A question for young women

Captain Capitalism researches the creme de la creme of feminism, the elite, award-winning, bien-pensant New York media figure, the East Coast, Liberal, Feminist Woman Who Lives In New York And Opines About Socio-Romantic Topics, As Well As Politics and asks if they are truly the role models that Sex and the City made them appear to be:
The Question I Have for Young Women

Now, let's summarize all the ECLFWWLINYAOASRTAWAP's into one imaginary "cumulative, average woman."

The average ECLFWWLINYAOASRTAWAP is:
  •     a 44 year old woman
  •     who is unlikely to be married
  •     likely to be divorced
  •     likely to have children
  •     with a good chance she will be a single mother
  •     doesn't have a real degree or a real profession
  •     but went to school for 6 years on average for it anyway
  •     and is very average looking coming in at a 5.4
Do you REALLY want to become that?

I don't care what they write.  I don't care what they say.  And I don't care how sweet it may sound to your young, naive, gullible and VERY INEXPERIENCED ears.

Do you really want to be a divorced, middle aged woman with a hobby that you desperately try to pawn off as a career?
What is even worse is that there isn't even a remotely reasonable prospect of joining the Dowd Crowd in these days of declining newspaper readerships.  How many slots come open on the New York Times editorial page, one per decade?  Ross Douthat got the token conservative one about five years ago and he'll fill it for the next thirty.  Dowd has is still writing about her dating life even though she has been living in the lonely hell of the formerly attractive for at least the last 15 years, and there is no reason to think she won't hold onto her slot for another 20.

The average crack whore working the central bus station would serve as a better role model for the young woman who seeks happiness and fulfillment in life than these bitter, middle-aged charlatans.

This made me lulz.

Good post.

If Cap had waited a few years, the average age would have gone up a bit...

I think he may be ascribing a bit too much foresight to his target audience with this one, though. I think most women'll read it and think "hey, no way, that's not me" even as working to finish their communications graduate degrees.

Perhaps, but these women represent the pinnacle. This is the very best for which they can hope.

There are womyn who are born 5.4. Lesser even.

Should omit that from his list.

Or is Captain Capitalism suggesting plastic surgery?

My experience has been:

50 years old.

Unmarried.

No children.

Affirmative Action "career."

Psychiatric drugs.

Hostile, bitter, self-pitying.

Blames problems on men.

Cats or big aggressive male dog.

I have about twenty friends from college who are heading down this path. I suppose I should pity them, but I find that increasingly difficult.

The list is missing a few such as, had an abortion or two, STDs, mental issues, financial issues, etc but we can take what women say at face value.

Toby, there are very few women who can't get results with a smile, pleasant attitude, and decent wardrobe. Then follow up with diet and exercise. It doesn't take a whole lot to score in the 6-7 range.

Michael Maier said...

The better comment I thought was about ignoring 50% of the equation and why the hell you'd ever think of doing so.

Thanks for linking to the piece, though. Fun read. And probably will be 99.99% ignored.

00.01 of the targeted readers might pay attention, but they'll forget about it after seeing an ad for a shoe sale.

Michael Maier said...

And I couldn't help but wonder about how many abortions these hags averaged, too.

Something that disturbs me deeply is this fascination with Melissa McCarthy types. What a terrible message to send! Women like this are praised for being (what used to be at least)...bad!

Melissa McCarthy is the fat chick from bridesmaids, right?

Yes...

Department of redundancy department:

likely to have children

Don't the first three of these imply the fourth?

Jimmy said...

While the obvious reaction is revulsion, I can't help noticing that these East Coast journalists are doing exactly what they want. They seem to be having it all in their own special way. It's not like they haven't married or haven't had children. Most did get married and had children. They had their trivial divorces. They made a living with their frivolous degrees.

The statistics cited are not extraordinary. They are typical throughout the country. Feminism no longer exists in a tiny corner in the East Coast. It is everywhere.

I know one young lady(just turned 21, a nascent 8, who reads manosphere wisdom) who does not want to become that, but here's the problem. She is not approached by men in her age range, only by much older men as much as yrs her senior.

Young men, for reasons good or ill, do not want to marry. I can not discourage her from finishing college so she can take care of herself if need be.
It's to bad she might end up a collateral damage. Any hope?

I'd chose the Dowd Crowd over the Crack Whore every day of my life.

"Or is Captain Capitalism suggesting plastic surgery?"

I suspect that is part of it. But I also tend to think that these women stay in a normal weight range and keep themselves up so they have a pretty high floor. Say around 4.8. So even if they aren't breaking 6 (which is really hard to do if you are 40+) it averages out to a not rancid 5.4

Its a shame Romney didn't win. Ann Romney would be a really solid role model. She looks amazing for 65, supported her husband, raised 5 kids.

Pepper said...

Anonymous makes a good point. The men who have family values are often times older than the fertile women. There are young men who want to marry I am sure, it's just a matter of how to find them. I don't want to minimize the challenges of this generation, but people have ways of finding each other. And, at least the Dowd Crowd can form a complete sentence, that could come in handy...

Anonymous said...

Thanks Pepper, you bring up a valid point. I often hear many of my acquaintance's who have sons between 18 and 30 say things like "He just wants to play his video games." "He's to busy." or "He's just not interested in meeting anyone." I laugh to myself when the parents exclaim, they do not understand what the problem is.

At least the few young men the young lady has been out with have been honest with her and told her they were just out to have fun and not looking for anything serious.

It would be nice if there was an easier way for those of like minds to find each other.

Anonymous, your comment reminds me of a situation I encountered in my own life. I am giggling about it but it's not really funny at all. A church I attended a few years ago had a "singles group". However, there was a caveat printed in the first few lines of the group's description that said this group is NOT A MEAT MARKET. Don't think you can come here and hit on women! Or something to that effect. I suppose I don't really need to comment (how can I not...?), but when churches are not only NOT promoting healthy, stable marriages, and in fact are encouraging androgynous relations between the sexes...what can we expect society to look like? Where's the salt? Where's the light? Shouldn't the church be rehabilitating men and women so they can build solid lives together? I was aghast after reading said description. I should have taken that pastor to task for a multitude of sins, including that one. So, I would recommend the church for your friend, but if her churches are anything like this one, that isn't much of a solution!

when i was 15, 18, 25, the Dowd Crowd (heh) had no interest in me -- they were with guys 10 or 20 years older

Society, Government, LE, and the Media didnt scream and demand that the Dowd Crowd find more "age appropriate" partners

my response was not to hate women, nor to make war on all females bc they didnt find me attractive -- i just moved on with life, and tried to keep improving

then when i was 35 (and following) suddenly the teenagers and twenty-things were v interested . . . but the same Dowd Crowd who had no use for me at 15, 18, 25 now demanded i be shamed and persecuted bc younger females chased me

suddenly "age appropriate" mattered

the very same women who had their turn at being young and desirable, now dont want anybody else having their turn

theyd rather destroy the world than age with even the vaguest of grace

the Dowd Crowd wants to stay 15 forever, and uses the government, media, and "law" to ensure that if they CANT remain 15 forever, why then, everybody else is gonna be miserable too (tho there's money to be made off that misery, eh maureen and NY?)

like all modern females, the Dowd Crowd demands everything be Their Way at all times, and if it's not, why there'll be a new law along soon to hurry the process along, nupe i cant understand why guys would be shooting up yr fine nation

these montressess should be fired from their fake "jobs" that pour out hatred onto western masculinity, and set to actual employment, picking up litter in the streets, something commensurate with their actual abilities

and the NYT and all the other mouthpieces of sauron should be held criminally accountable for the evil theyve poured out on western nations

Revelation Means Hope said...

Ray, sounds like you're still somewhat bitter. Let it go. Let them have their fake jobs. Unless you have a better suggestion for them? I'd suggest they go be sex slaves in some third world hell-hole, but that's just me. Besides, with their lousy attitudes toward men, they'd probably be lousy whores.

Revelation Means Hope said...

Hey Anonymous,
Here is why your "8" friend is not approached by men her age.

Because she doesn't WANT men her age to approach her. Yes, her mouth is saying "I want men my age to approach me". Yet, one of the rules here on this blog is to observe women's behavior and not listen to what they say.

If you observe her (and young women in similar situations), you will see that they send close to zero signals to any of the young men around them that the woman would welcome an approach. In all likelihood the suitable young men around her are nigh invisible to her. Just like the overweight women are invisible to me.

That's because they don't want the wrong guys (churchian gamma/delta) hitting on God's perfect princesses.

"8"s clearly want to be approached, or else they wouldn't be "8"s...

The attractive women who don't want to be approached have an ice cold stare. And generally, perfect make up. But, this is just my opinion...

Those women are so lazy they've outsourced shit testing to the pastorate.

What's wrong with dating and marrying an older man?

I think it would be difficult for a real 8 to look unattractive and repulse men. Even a hot mess is still hot.

"Anonymous makes a good point. The men who have family values are often times older than the fertile women. "

(Tongue in cheek) We should re-institute polygamy. We thereby increase the market demand for women who want to get married (thereby increasing their chances to do so). Also, the young men sitting in their mother's basement playing video games would find that their lives are destined to become as meaningless as the aforementioned ECLFWWLINYAOASRTAWAP unless they change. This in turn might spur them competetiveness and movement up the social/sexual hierarchy

Upside all around

Pepper said...

If the men can keep up...

Jack Amok said...

She is not approached by men in her age range, only by much older men as much as yrs her senior.

Guys between 20 and 27 are less interested in marriage than guys 28 and over. It's probably a subconscious adaptation to the reality of the market - their Market Value isn't at it's peak yet. They can probably land a higher value wife if they wait a few years.

So she should look at guys 5+ years older than her.

all i did was report my experiences -- strange that reality "sounds bitter"

that's the word i usually hear, tho, particularly from women and "christians"

i guess the truth IS bitter, to those who dont want it

"Let it go"

are you kidding? i'm just getting warmed up!

as long as the shrew keeps bitng, i will keep smashing its shrieking head against the rocks

i dont think the rocks will give first, but we shall see

I think it was Dowd who wrote "Are Men Necessary?". Only if you want civilization.

The "older men" are probably the only ones who would actually respect her and be serious about marriage. The younger ones can just keep going until they find something loose to pick up.

Perhaps older men have better radar. But although numerous, the pool of women is shallow, or at least statistically the women are. At some points drilling dry holes (double entrendre intended) becomes tedious and exhausting.
