Hypergamouse 004

Sounds about right. Surprised the female 'friend' is actually giving him some good advice. I would expect something along the lines of 'just be yourself' and 'the right person will come along' nonsense that women say to each other all the time.

Highly apt (and amusing) picture about this:

I like the clean line art this go-round, as opposed to the greyscale shading used before.

As to the subject...my head hurts. I know too many people like this.

So Vox, the point of "Hypergamouse 004" is basically that Deltas and Gammas can be their own worst enemies?

I can see that. Sure, Ms. Hypergamouse can be pretty clueless in explaining how fellow members of her sex operate, but neither does she seem intentionally malicious, like last weeks's "xkcd" cunt.

Still, our "Halo"-loving protagonist is not likely to find much comfort in this, if he realizes it. After his last two crash and burns acting on her incomplete information, I'm not necessarily blaming him for throwing in the towel.

But this strip is still young; maybe in time she will show and actively evil side.

I'd still like to find out how Ms. Hypergamouse and Halo-Mouse became acquainted. Halo-Mouse doesn't seem to be drooling over her (yet); so I wouldn't necessarily consider him a beta-orbiter. Perhaps she's an older cousin who grew up knowing him, and can take him and his mannerisms in stride. It still wouldn't make her the best source of advice, but it would explain why she hasn't told him to "fuck off" when he comes back for more (mis)advice.

Keep 'em coming, Vox!

Prediction: Future strips will reveal that Halo keeps Hyperga in a bottle and releases her periodically to answer his questions like a modern reinterpretation of "I Dream of Genie."

Vox,

I just tried a new opener that worked to perfection -- got the digits from a 20-year-old college student (I'm damn-near middle age).

At the coffee shop, she sat next to me and I gave her a few minutes to get comfy.

Then, I asked her about the ugly leggings three women there were wearing. This connected with the female competitive nature.

So, I think this is a neg, but directed at someone other than the target.

What do you think of the technique?

@ Anonymous 1:50 PM:

Seems promising, as long as the women you're criticizing are decent-looking. You're demonstrating higher SMV than those women, who may in turn be of equivalent or higher SMV than the girl you were talking to.

It also tells her hamster that you're a man of standards. Spin, little thing, spin...

Thank you, Soga, thank you! It was the first time I used it -- trying to use some stuff I (at least in my own mind) have invented.

It got her laughing, and created the "our world" bonding that I think is crucial in many openers.

This is the first one that made me laugh out load. I chuckled at the other ones, but you guys are definitely coming into your own. Or maybe it was just the inclusion of Battlefield 3. Anyway, good work.

Not sure I get this one, as she's actually giving him good game advice. I thought she would have regurgitated the old "just be patient and the right one will come along" platitude.

Also, I fapped to the second panel.

I know a Halomouse and if I didnt know better I would think you were telling his life story. Hes even got a green lantern ring , my logic is do the opposite of everything he does. Its working

OT question ...

Can a hetero man have 30+ consensual partners and still not be an Alpha or a Sigma? I ask, because I have two male buddies who are way up there in terms of numbers, and the girls I've seen them with tend to be pretty, but these guys don't come across as really socially dominant. If the answer is yes, then how do such men fit into the hierarchy?

I'd suspect that they're both Sigmas. Sigmas are less socially dominant than sexually dominant.

Okay, that makes sense. I failed to make the social/sexual distinction.

I have two thoughts:

1. One mistake on both their parts is that she's giving him advice in the reverse direction - she gives him some female-oriented aphorism like "be yourself," then backtracks on it to say "well you have to be yourself and be in shape too." So she's just sending him on a SMV scavenger hunt.

2. He goes back to video games because he views getting in shape as something that's done for a specific purpose, bagging women. If he got into shape for its own rewards, he'd (a) be in shape and (b) project a much better attitude to girls.

I encourage all young men to take a good look at their workout regimen and their eating habits and align them to optimize their best health and wellness, for its own sake. I'm in just about the best shape of my life right now, and it feels so awesome. I'm not at all motivated by getting chicks when it comes to cycling, lifting, and eating right, it is its own reward.

When it's game on, I know I have a big SMV boost. But that's not why I go to the gym in the first place.

I've tried to tell women I know that getting their ass into shape is going to feel so awesome they'll forget they started it to get better men.
