Don't cut your damn hair: Beauty Queen edition

Pro tip: if you want to win a beauty competition, don't look like a man:
'If short hair is a problem why didn't they say': Fury of family of Jamaican beauty queen as they claim she lost out on Miss Universe crown because of Halle Berry hairstyle.

The grandfather of the Jamaican beauty queen who lost out on the Miss Universe crown has hit out at the pageant judges for being unclear about the requirements needed to win the show.

Michael Fennell said that Kaci was the victim of ‘unwritten factors’ and that the judges should have stated if Miss Universe needed to have long hair.  He said: 'If short hair is a problem why didn’t they say so in the contest? In my mind she was absolutely beautiful in her short hair. She was different but if the judges didn't want short hair then say so. I wish I knew how these contests were judged where there are other factors that are unwritten that have to be considered'.
And here we see the problem of the Gamma and Delta father, who lies to his daughters about the world. Granted, this is a fairly harmless example, but on what planet do men prefer short hair? Miss Jamaica doesn't look "absolutely beautiful" in her short hair, she looks like a dyke trolling for femmes.

Ladies, it's not that hard. Men find long hair attractive. They always have, they always will. That is never going to change, so deal with it. No one is telling you that you can't cut your hair off, we're just warning you that the consequences will generally be negative.

I can't even tell if she looks as good as the other girls, because her hair makes her look like a completely different category. She might have great facial features, but I can't tell because her hair frames everything differently. It's like trying to choose the champion at a pet show when the five finalists are four dogs and a goldfish.

The article later makes it clear it wasn't just about her hair; she also had the "sassy" attitude to go with it. That explains both her failure with the judges (the real question is, how did she get as high as 5th?), and her being a favorite with women on social media.

I think it was a bold but calculated strategy. The point was to stand out and be different. Unfortunately it didn't pay off.

It's been a while since I've visited your previous "Don't cut your damn hair" thread - I see the hits just keep on coming over there. Hurtful, Vox, you are just hurtful.

It's an interesting phenomenon. Look at Miss Ukraine, with her hair up - more appealing than Miss Jamaica? Now put your thumb over her poof of hair on top of her head and try to visualize what's left being all the hair she has....bleh.

Angry femtards act like it takes a lot of work growing their hair out when they literally have to do nothing to make it happen.

The proof is in the pic she's in with Miss Columbia where they have basically the same everything except the hair. It knocks off enough from her attractiveness compared to Columbia's.

who judges this shit: miss america made it to the final round and shes barely even a 9?

Seriously. "Tell us what your unwritten requirements are."

There will always be the "je ne sais quoi" factor.

I must not be qualified to judge these things.

To me, Miss Lithuania and Miss Australia in the background are the hottest.

I mean seriously miss Lebanon shouldn't have even been allowed within a mile of that competition.

There's a gorgeous white latina in the office who recently cut her luscious brown tresses into a 'bob' cut.

Someone--a jealous female colleague perhaps--must have put her up to it.

There ought to be strict hair length regulations in place, like we had at school in England.

I'm confused. Does this mean Miss Jamaica *isn't* a tranny?

Beauty is an unfair requirement in such contests to some....

jimmy-jimbo said...

She couldn't wait to cut her hair until after the competition. If she kept it, she would have to maintain it for a whole year. Maybe losing was her intention. I can't help wondering why some competitors are running a different strategy than the others. The rest of the girls all look alike anyways. She does stick out and she gotten lots of publicity for losing.

Earl Thomas said...

Seriously. "Tell us what your unwritten requirements are."

The same unwritten requirements for everyone else.

1. Be handsome.
2. Be attractive.
3. Don't be unattractive.

It is interesting her "get granddaddy to passive-aggressively whine for me" strategy.

"Miss Fennel gained a large following due to her striking beauty, confidence, and unconventional style." Yes, too thick to look at the history of past winners to see that they. All. Have. Long. Hair.

No. Impossible. Reality (and male desire) must bend around and change for herrrrrrrrr...

SarahsDaughter:

I read Vox's original "Don't Cut Your Damn Hair" thread. The last comment was left on that nearly 4 year old thread only 2 days ago.

The latest comments from the women commenters spew things like "women don't wear their hair for men" and "I'll wear my hair any damn way I please" and "I'm not here to please you".

Comments like this, and attitudes like these, are a very, very big part of why relations between the sexes are as they are.

I suppose we could extend Vox's admonition to include pubic hair.

Bald, shaved lady parts are a particular bugbear of mine, though I wouldn't go so
far as to turn my nose up at one.

And don't even get me started on smooth-chested men.

What is behind this modern obsession with removing hair?

Black contestants always do better than they should.

@John Dee
That article is still getting hate comments from hamstering choppers. I think it's funny how sensitive women are to criticism of short haircuts, but I'm not exactly sure why they are that sensitive about it. It seems to grate on them even more than criticism of fat broads.

Having watched this year's pageant in progress (don't ask; it's a long story), this is the first thing that jumped out at me. Short hair was the very least of this creature's issues. To echo Bill Solomon's sentiments upthread, who judged this event? Blind men? Guys with "tranny fetishes" who formed a majority of the panel? How did this ghoul make it to the final phase of competition? Or did the Miss Universe Committee decide that it's time to open up the event to the LGBT community and that the contestant from the land that gave the world Grace Jones is as good a place to start as any? Either way, the implications are stomach-turning.

Looks more like a boy than a man, but yeah. Something in the switch room shuts off when there is even a possibility that she might be a he. But then, maybe she/he was going for the muslim vote. They sure like their boys.

This is just funny all over... she's not even black, she looks tan. Definitely no African features in her face.

And she is a knockout compared to the women one sees every day. Problem for her is she was competing against models, not random women on the street, lmao. Miss Netherlands looked great in one of those pics...

Owen said...

Short hair, small breasts, no hips.

No wonder they love her. She's a post-op tranny.

Earl Thomas said...

'Ladies with short hair are mentally damaged'

I have yet to see this generalization be refuted. If they have a short haircut I would sport...they can't be all there in the head.

JCclimber said...

Speaking of the original thread, it is in serious need of cleanup. More than half of the comments after #200 are spam.

It is really distracting when you're trying to have a good laugh at all the butt hurt posts.

Alexander said...

Whole thing was a ruse is my money. She's clearly less attractive than the other girls even without the dyke haircut. So she went for short to make an "issue", and it got her a spot in the top five.

Well played, Jamaica, well played.

JCclimber said...

My wife and I have this discussion every so often. I tell her that I can tell when a single woman has given up on dating, because they cut their hair short.

Often, these same women have asked our help in finding them a boyfriend/husband. We shrug our shoulders and mentally write them off, time to devote our resources to someone who still cares about being an attractive mate.

We know a small number of women who have short because of chemo. One of the first things they do, is grow their hair out as long as possible afterwards. Both to reaffirm their femininity, as kind of a unconscious "take that" to cancer and death, and to be attractive to their husbands again, for supporting them through the fight.

Paradoxically, when I ask someone who cut their hair short "how long until you can grow it back out again", their eyes light up right away with interest because they're being challenged.

JCclimber said...

If that is a picture of her with the Carnivale headdress on, where you can't really tell how short her hair is, she really is beautiful. Such a shame. In every picture where her hair is short, it knocks 1 or 2 points off her attractiveness.

No one could overcome that kind of handicap with such stiff competition.

Everyone knows the two main exports of Columbia are cocaine and beauty queen contestants. If combined they make for a potent combination.

Corvinus said...

I think it was a bold but calculated strategy. The point was to stand out and be different. Unfortunately it didn't pay off.

It's definitely a political statement. Just like Weepy from the other day.

And in both cases, they seem to be flummoxed that the opposite sex doesn't find their political statements attractive, but are determined to try to make society go against biology.

cailcorishev said...

I think it's funny how sensitive women are to criticism of short haircuts, but I'm not exactly sure why they are that sensitive about it.

Because it means there are consequences for their actions, that they can't go through life following every whim without worry. If cutting all your hair off makes people treat you differently, what other consequences might there be? Next you'll tell them that sleeping around and having babies with multiple men reduces a woman's chance of marrying well. Where will the tyranny end?

Cataline Sergius said...

You want to see a White Knight mount his charger. Criticize short hair on a woman. Thutmosis over Return of Kings got I believe their all time record of social justice hate mail over that very issue.

Captain Internet Paladin: "Back off dudebro! She can pull it off! Her hair looks cute!

Cataline: "Notice the words of your own mouth. "Pull it off," indicates that she is accomplishing something difficult that most women can't. And you instinctively, instinctively used the word "cute." Not 'beautiful.' Not 'sexy.' The most honest words of fawning praise you could muster was 'cute'. Like she was a clumsy puppy instead of a sexually desirable woman.

Captain Internet Paladin: "Micro-Aggressions! Phallic Symbols of the Patriarchy! Dudebro! Filthy vile DUDEBRO!"

Cataline: "Have you ever in your life, heard the words. 'I want to run my fingers through her beautiful, short, boyish hair?"'

I dont understand, it takes one clip for a bun. 4 or 5 pins to put up most long hair. one can use even more pins for a natural curl or wave minus an iron, no hair cut is required.

Unknown said...

Wife cut her hair claiming its easier to fix in the mornings before work.

She gets up before me and I timed her on a couple of occassions and found she takes much more time to get those "cute" little pixie tweaks than she ever took for longer hair to dry and look decent.

So, no. its NOT easier to have short, pixie hair.

I find it amusing that they still even HAVE beauty contests. There are so many politically correct impediments to it, and when you wade through it all, you are still down to a handfull of judges making an arbitrary selection.

"... but it's a scolarship program..." HAHAHA.

Kyle said...

"No one is telling you that you can't cut your hair off, we're just warning you that the consequences will generally be negative."

This is really the core issue, isn't it? The problem with feminism (and modern women in general) is that they expect to be absolved of any consequences for their actions; and worse, many of them expect not only absolution, but praise for doing so.
