Trained to hate

Cracked lists five ways men are trained to hate women:
  • We Were Told That Society Owed Us a Hot Girl
  • We're Trained from Birth to See You as Decoration
  • We Think You're Conspiring With Our Boners to Ruin Us
  • We Feel Like Manhood Was Stolen from Us at Some Point
  • We Feel Powerless
This is, of course, complete nonsense. The fact that it's written in a breathless "Things We Love This Summer" style remniscent of a women's magazine was the first clue that it might as well have been written by a single, bitter, thirty-something complaining that men hate women because they are intimidated by female strength, intelligence, and overall wonderfulness.

It's interesting that for all the millions of words written by pick-up artists and theorists of Game, no one has ever complained about any of these five factors with the exception of the one about feeling powerless. The five reasons men really do tend to regard women in a negative manner - hate is much too strong a word - are as follows:

  • When women refuse to be held accountable for their words and actions.
  • When women treat those close to them worse than they treat complete strangers.
  • When women cry about being badly treated by men then chase alphas.
  • When women hold others to a higher standard than they hold themselves.
  • When women advocate legal inequality in the name of sexual equality.

Vox, you read my motherfucking mind. I like Cracked more when they're talking about weird science, obscure history, and plot holes in movies/games, less when they talk about things liberals like to talk about.

David Wong and Christina H are their worst writers in this regard. And the former wrote today's.

Yeah I can honestly say society never once suggested to me I was owed a hot girl. On the other hand society did keep insisting women could "have it all".

Thanks for that five bullet summary, it so concisely sums up the problem, I will be using it myself.

Myth: We're Trained from Birth to See You as Decoration

Fact: We're trained from birth to see you as equal to us in every way ...

... but we're not allowed to hit you back when you hit us first.

... but you need more encouragement than us to go to college and especially to take difficult subjects like math and science.

... but if we crack a dirty joke around you we could be charged with sexual harassment.

... but if you regret the decision to have sex with us we could be charged with rape.

... but when you get pregnant it's your choice whether we get to see our babies alive or dead.

... but when you decide to leave the marriage for some other guy, the courts are stacked in your favor and we probably won't have as much access to our kids as you.

The first list is a completely ineffective curriculum. I'm guessing it is a public school initiative.

I thought this was a completely asinine attempt at satire. Wonder what skool of jurnilesm produced those two geniuses?

The writer, David Wong, appears to be married. But yeah, since he swallowed the liberal lie hook, line and sinker, this is the only way he can make sense of his world. (Just take a look at the gratuitous, ignorant swipe against the Catholic stand against birth control).

Mmm, actually I *was* Told That Society Owed Us a Hot Girl -- they pretty much had to promise me this if they expected me to build/maintain civilization. I kept up my end of the bargain...

I read this article yesterday, and I wanted to send it to you, but I couldn't bring myself to even finish the worthless tripe. Glad you saw it anyway.

And absolutely no examples of leftists being misogynists, just mean old Rush Limbaugh and the catholics.

David Wong is the personification of wuss. His wife must be so proud.

David Wong also wrote "The 7 commandments video games should follow." It's one of his most famous articles and even it comes across as whiny.

Couldn't all of those reasons be flipped to explain why we have a rational view of women? They are trained to believe they deserve the hot guy for nothing, they're trained to believe that men are the bacon winners, to believe that we only think with our boners, that they're being robbed of their femininity, and that they feel powerless.

Nope. It's all mens fault.

Well, to be fair, some manosphere bloggers do say these things. Not all, not most, not many, but some. From outside the loop, it can be pretty ugly to behold, especially if you don't have the requisite filters yet.

But if one relies on Reddit commenters to discern the "temperature" of mankind? Well, he deserves to be relentlessly mocked and possibly have his "competent human card" revoked.

Funny how Sharon Osborne can make fun of the real-life horror story of a penis in a garbage disposal to the response of roaring laughter from a female audience, and no one thinks "hatred of men." Yet, a man (correctly) says it is pathetic for women to continually dispense their sexual services to the very men they complain about while blowing off the very men they claim to want, and that is "hatred of women."

On 'We were told Society owed us a hot girl'
A far more correct formulation would be:
We were told that the hotness of the girl which society would allocate to us would be directly proportional to the degree in which we contributed to the functionality of said society.
That of course was a lie, said allocation is based primarily on social status which is only very loosely correlated to social contribution and may in many cases be anticorrelated.

There are a lot of men who feel that way. He may not have listed every reason that some men hate women but he covered some very common reasons.

huh. seems like a good place to link Sim's "14 Impossible Things to Believe Before Breakfast":
http://www.theabsolute.net/misogyny/tangents.html
"1. A mother who works a full-time job and delegates to strangers the raising of her children eight hours a day, five days a week does just as good a job as a mother who hand-rears her children full time.

2. It makes great sense for the government to pay 10 to 15,000 dollars a year to fund a daycare space for a child so its mother – who pays perhaps 2,000 dollars in taxes – can be a contributing member of society.

3. A woman's doctor has more of a valid claim to participate in the decision to abort a fetus than does the father of that fetus.

4. So long as a woman makes a decision after consulting with her doctor, she is incapable of making an unethical choice.5. A car with two steering wheels, two gas pedals and two brakes drives more efficiently than a car with one steering wheel, one gas pedal and one brake which is why marriage should always be an equal partnership.

6. It is absolutely necessary for women to be allowed to join or participate fully in any gathering place for men, just as it is absolutely necessary that there be “women only” environments from which men are excluded.

7. Because it involves taking jobs away from men and giving them to women, affirmative action makes for a fairer and more just society.

8. It is important to have lower physical standards for women firepersons and women policepersons so that, one day, half of all firepersons and policepersons will be women, thus more effectively protecting the safety of the public.

9. Affirmative action at colleges and universities needs to be maintained now that more women than men are being enrolled, in order to keep from giving men an unfair advantage academically.

10. Having ensured that there is no environment for men where women don't belong (see no.6) it is important to have zero tolerance of any expression or action which any woman might regard as sexist to ensure greater freedom for everyone.

11. Only in a society which maintains a level of 95% of alimony and child support being paid by men to women can men and women be considered as equals.

12. An airline stewardess who earned $20,000 a year at the time that she married a baseball player earning $6 million a year is entitled, in the event of a divorce, to $3 million for each year of the marriage and probably more.

13. A man's opinions on how to rear and/or raise a child are invalid because he is not the child's mother. However, his financial obligation is greater because no woman gets pregnant by herself.

14. Disagreeing with any of these statements makes you anti-woman and/or a misogynist.

"We were told Society owed us a hot girl"

More like "We were told we owe the girls of the world a decent husband, even the ones we weren't attracted to."

In fact, just about everything coming out of Hollywood the past 30 years has the guy learning in his "maturity" to pass up the super-hot girl for the somewhat plainer, "independent", "successful" girl who actually deserves him.

Yes it is true that even the most successful alpha will often choose a wife who is less of a 10 than his long string of girlfriends, but that is not because of her tuff-grrl independence, but because of the other feminine attributes men value for marriage. In other words, no, men are not trained from birth just to see women as decoration, nor have they ever been.

"We Were Told That Society Owed Us a Hot Girl"

You know, I would be content with a woman who is simply thin.

Anonymous said...

Thin as in, "her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard."

Not, "her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard as they watch her drink yet another one when she really should not."

and said she "... is so encrusted and used, that I had to throw out my flat-panel TV because her appearance on my TV infected it with AIDS, gonorrhea and syphilis."

This was the funniest line in the article and he was trying to hold it up for ridicule.. not exactly effective

I actually had this link emailed to me by a user to do a review. It's making the rounds on the regular fat women's facebooks walls this week too.

I was going to do a breakdown of it until I saw that it was from Cracked.com and i thought "since when is Cracked a source for any legitimate opinion and not satire?" It's like saying Mad Magazine is on par with The Atlantic, or The Onion is a reliable news source.

Not worth the effort.

In all fairness, the author is, as far as I know, married. I actually read the whole article, and I think he sees some of the same things I do, but his perspective is entirely that of a white knighting female worshiping "male feminist".

Marty McFly gets his dream girl, John McClane gets his ex-wife back, Keanu "Speed" Reeves gets Sandra Bullock, Shia LaBeouf gets Megan Fox in Transformers, Iron Man gets Pepper Potts, the hero in Avatar gets the hottest Na'vi, Shrek gets Fiona, Bill Murray gets Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters, Frodo gets Sam, WALL-E gets EVE ... and so on."

See it never occurs to the Beta that maybe these guys get the girl because they are the hero. Sure it's a contrived situation in the movies, but what reasonable person watches Iron Man and expects Pepper Pots to run away with Happy Hogan?

If anything, men in our society are trained to love or pedestal women.

Just look at the three biggest mediums. Music, television and or movies along with books. All three promote the love of women on the largest scale. With maybe the exception of a small portion of the stated mediums. Such as rap music, the crazy bad guy (who invariably loses in the end) in a movie or book.

Other than that. It's pretty much all Eat Pray Love-Say Anything, love songs and a Harlequin Romance style of promoting the love of women.

I read this yesterday and instantly thought of Vox. Very glad you responded to it. Confirmed my suspicions as to how you would respond to it : )

The underlying crux of his argument (such as it is) stems from men swallowing fictional narratives in print, picture, and video game. Never mind 40, 50 years or more of equalitarian fantasy we've had bludgeoned into our minds not merely in entertainment, but in legislation & academia.

Had virtually the same thoughts below. I'm obviously a very slow typer.

I like Pepper Pots. How can you not love her "taking out the trash" line as she's kicking the blonde reporter out of Tony's house?

mmaier2112@work said...

Ah, yes.... that embodiment of hotness that was Trinity.

Far more masculine than Keanu and the only character in any medium where not only did I not care one lick when she died -TWICE!! - but I actually really wanted her to die a lot faster the 2nd time.

I dig Pepper in the films. She has a charm about her.

I forgot that line.

She & RDJr played well off of one another.

For those interested, David & John go even further on the message boards.

He's directly jamming his fist into the asses of "men's rights" advocates and the people who spew those types of bullshit, hateful comments about women. The fact that I have to even type these words makes me very, very sad, but I've seen so many people today just baffled as to how he could be saying that, because they don't personally think in the way that he's describing.

AND

I actually think the vast majority of the prejudice that happens on earth, happens at the hands of people who are in no way acting maliciously. They just haven't been pushed hard enough to think of things from the other end.
