Killer Game

I find it interesting to observe that a man is FAR more likely to attract women by raping and killing another woman than by behaving in the gentlemanly manner so enthusiastically endorsed by women:
Japanese women have set up online fan clubs idolising the jobless student accused of murdering British teacher Lindsay Ann Hawker Tatsuya Ichihashi, 30, was arrested in Osaka in November after spending more than two-and-a-half years as a fugitive. He now faces the death penalty for the rape and murder of Miss Hawker, whose body was found buried in a bath of sand on the balcony of his Tokyo apartment in March 2007.

But despite the horrific nature of the allegations, Ichihashi has become a cult hero to hundreds of Japanese fans. Social networking sites Mixi and 2Channel have been innundated with admirers who have awarded him elevated nicknames, such as Ichi-sama (Lord Ichi) and Tobo Oji (the fugitive prince). Some content themselves with lavishing him with praise while others have fantasised about having sex with him....

The Gyotoku police station where Ichihashi is awaiting trial has also been struggling to deal with a slew of fan mail - including a woman who arrived to deliver an album of dog photographs.
Think about the implications of this, deltas, gammas, and omegas. Women find it sexier for you to rape and kill a woman than putting them on pedestals and being a nice guy. I'm not saying that you should rape and kill anyone, but I would recommend, at the very least, dropping the nice guy routine and pushing over the pedestals.

Women have plenty of positive attributes. But they're not angels, and when it comes to what sexually attracts them, even the nice, well-bred ones are more insanely twisted, from the male perspective, than the average serial killer. Remember, attraction isn't about logic or reason, it is instinctive and there is very little that anyone can do about it. Foot fetishists don't ask to be turned on by feet any more than women ask to be turned on by rapist-murderers. But expecting women who get a warm inner buzz from a Tobo Oji to be attracted to a nice delta who buys her flowers is about as likely as expecting the foot fetishist to be turned on by a woman with ugly feet and a perfect posterior. It's not so much wrong as it is a category error.

"Hybristophilia". True phenomenon.

But perhaps this will put a lid on the "Japanese girls are better than American girls" business.

For the religious: why would God make it so that aggression is rewarded, even in the total absense of character, and then demand a good character of us?

For generating attraction it doesn't even compare, and if you look at it from an opportunity cost perspective it's a net loss, especially this day in age.

Why do you assume God did it?

Don't waste time pondering God's reasons for anything.

But perhaps this will put a lid on the "Japanese girls are better than American girls" business.

No it won't.

It's good to be bad.

Obviously modernguy is completely unfamiliar with the doctrine of original sin which means he knows absolutely nothing about Christianity.

Nice try, Modernguy, but you're off-topic. Don't try to pull this cross-commenting stuff or you'll end up getting your comments banned here as well. This is not a religious post, so knock it off.

Don't play along with his attempt to derail the topic, Enkidu.

Heh, nice try. The absolute only advantage American women have over Japanese are breasts; Japanese ones are admittedly pretty small. But girls here tend to have much softer faces, much skinnier bodies, and *generally* more feminine behavior than their American counterparts. Being someone who cares not about boob size, I see no reason to ever go back. Although it should be said that there are a ton of silly stereotypes about Japanese girls that aren't true (hyper-feminine mysterious exotic sex kitten. Suuure.)

I do often find myself bothered how the kind of behavior required for success with women is almost the exact opposite of the kind of behavior the Bible teachers.

Does the Bible teach it or do people holding a Bible teach it? Jesus was a bad ass. Doing your own thing confidently is going to result in conflict. You have to believe it and follow through on your words with action.

This is similar with sexy for women. You know there are the trampy women who wear revealing clothes and tons of makeup. But there are women who dress conservatively, do not do anything overtly sexual, yet they can rev your engine.

So it's not that the behavior is required, it's just that it's a cheap and easy way to get what you want. The wide gate.

Not going to start a religious war, but Jesus was a bad ass and the best Man who ever lived. Women who seriously lust after real killers are in the minority, and let's not forget that the whole freakin' world is screwed up; there are men who lust at the idea of hurting women, and women who lust to be hurt. We love pics of women and men holding whips and even wearing bizarre emo makeup. The Bible speaks against giving in to our more negative biological urges, given to us by sin and a cruel evolution. That means ignoring urges to bed sluts and to gravitate to bad men; both end up badly. Great points, Roundtine.

I know women who are attracted to the Joker, but this doesn't mean they actually want a serial killer; many fantasize about "changing" the bad man into a bad ass good man. And for those who only fantasize to a minimum degree, it's often just a little flirting with darkness that most of us do at some point; it's in our nature. Bu as Athol Kay put it, it's a fun place to visit, but I wouldn't wanna stay. The women in this article are sick and stupid: they're advertising the fact that they'd like to buy the house.

If you insist... a few of many, many relevant Bible passages.

"Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined."

Titus 1:7-8

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."

Matthew 5:5

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

Galatians 5:22

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

Colossians 3:12

Things like gentleness, kindness, goodness, compassion, and humility are precisely the opposite of the sort of behavior that game theorists like Roissy advocate. Although there is much I find useful in game theory (especially avoiding beta behavior, which we can all agree gets you nowhere), I'm not sure it's worth it to compromise my character as a Christian for greater success with women. I expect God will be more pleased if I maintain my character at the expense of romantic success instead of turning into a total dick to attract a smokin' hot babe.

I'm so tired of hearing this "Jesus was a badass" tune that Mark Driscoll and his followers constantly sing. Yeah, Jesus turned over tables in the temple, but he also washed people's feet, showed compassion on the less fortunate, and gave himself over to his enemies without fighting. In fact, I could probably argue that Jesus was critical of the badass archetype by scolding Peter, who obviously really, really wanted to be a sword-wielding, battle fighting badass. Jesus was no wimp, but not a testosterone-blasting lumberjack, either. As usual, most people seem determined to re-make Jesus in their own image.

Amen, Kyle! I don't like Driscoll either, though some of his points are good.

Funny Vox. Stupid, but funny. According to census figures Japan as a population of 127,600 in 2009. If 51% of those are female (usual proportion) that's just over 65 million women in Japan. If this guy has as many as 2000 fans (unlikely since if he did have the report would have said "thousands" not "hundreds") that's approximately 0.0031% of the population. Nice representative and broad-based sample to draw conclusions from.

And what percentage of Japanese women will write a love letter to an average Japanese nice guy?

Damn few. In other words, committing an atrocity will increase a man's ability to incite gina tingles by a couple orders of magnitude.

Think of it in terms of marketing - there is no such thing as 'bad' publicity. Notoriety is just another type of fame, which is to say status.

There are billions of women in the world, and from the actions of a couple of 100,you claim all women are exactly the same?

Could you be any more moronic?
