Women who put their careers first seldom understand
what they are doing to their relationship prospects:
How different her world is today. Kylie, 48, has just asked her struggling actor fiancĂ© Joshua Sasse — who’s nearly 20 years her junior — to leave their (er, her) multi-million-pound West London home amid reports he has been cheating on her with a Spanish actress.
Kylie and Sasse have split amid reports he has been cheating on her with a Spanish actress. The idea of a tear-stained Kylie after the split is heartbreaking. For there has never been a greater proponent of love than her.
She has searched for decades to find Mr Right. And after doomed relationships with Donovan, the late INXS singer Michael Hutchence, model Andres Velencoso and French actor Olivier Martinez, she finally believed she’d found him. Only last Tuesday, she was on ITV’s This Morning professing her love for Sasse, saying she’d change her surname to his when they married.
Kylie Minogue is a very successful actress and pop singer. She used to be very attractive too. Let's review the list of public romances mentioned in the article.

Can she REALLY affect surprise that she hasn't found a man stable enough to marry her? This isn't that hard. One would feel a similar lack of sympathy for a man who couldn't figure out why the none of the various strippers, prostitutes, and porn stars with whom he'd been involved had turned out to be Mrs. Right.

The hilarious (ok,I'll be kind here and call it "tragic") thing about this is how many working class women think they can get away with this as well.
Surprised? Hell no, not only are performers mentally and emotionally unstable, their lifestyle is unstable. They're 'on the road' much of the year, ''a man (or woman) in a suitcase''. Which means often, the only people they interact with are employees (security, managers, hair, costumers - they do their job, that's all that matters to them), fawning toadies (like media) or adoring fans.
Not conductive to any kind of relationship beyond dating/sex whenever they can find the time. The only exception are circuses and traveling carnivals, because everybody in the troupe lives, works and travels together, which can form it's own stability.
"One would feel a similar lack of sympathy for a man who couldn't figure out why the none of the various strippers, prostitutes, and porn stars with whom he'd been involved had turned out to be Mrs. Right."
Nah I'll have slightly more sympathy for the female - because (as is the case with Minogue/Judd/Silverman etc) their poor choices have rended them evolutionary deadends due to the age induced limits of female fertility.
Any 48 year old man with her level of fame and riches would still have the potential to sort themselves out and settle down with a stable, top quality, female and would know there's no rush as they could have children and start a family whenever they want. Hell a 48 year old man with her status could play the field for another 10 years and still (at 48) be young enough to settle down with a woman who is both beautiful and decent mother material without money being the overwhelming or only factor in her choice.
Kylie is done for and is simply a more famous, better looking, version of that pathetic husk of a (formerly hot) woman Sinead O'Conner who has been reduced to posting begging ads online looking for someone willing to have sex with her.
For there has never been a greater proponent of love than her.
How true. Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte -- mere pikers compared to Kylie Minogue.
It's probably not good for your MMV when one of your boyfriends is widely reported to have masturbated himself to death.
Replace the millions in earnings with thousands in debt, the fame and success with a serious of pointless office jobs, the still-top-notch looks (for her age) with an extra 100 pounds and a scowl, and you have the women the dating sites keep saying I should meet. All of them have profiles talking about how they're not going to settle anymore, so they're all expecting a famous actor too.
It is funny how women so often put themselves into a corner like that.
My younger sister dated thugs, losers, and when she gave birth to her son, she was living with a man she later claimed had bragged to her about a murder he had been an accomplice in. Ironically enough she had cheated and the boy was not even his. My parents hope she's calming down and between her better job at a grocery store and being more stable, she'll still marry one day. I said "How could she ever be happy with a guy so beta and dull he'd marry a single mom?"
Twenty years his senior? Never a long term prospect.
"How could she ever be happy with a guy so beta and dull he'd marry a single mom?"
I had those old mudshark whore of a woman going on and on about her slutty single mom daughter and somehow the conversation turned to me being single.
Told me I should find some single mom and marry her.
I just asked "Why would I want to deal with other people's mistakes?"
She shut up damned quick.
Women are attracted to dirt bags because they are also themselves dirt bags. Like attracts like. A woman with morals and ethics and decency would be repulsed by a man without morals and ethics and decency. Shitty women like shitty men because they are exciting to them. Like I used to say all the time, Bonnie loved her Clyde, yes she did.
"Can she REALLY affect surprise that she hasn't found a man stable enough to marry her? This isn't that hard. Yeah, but the only people who really understand all that and the parallels between the two situations are those who really understand sexual dynamics.
Because, you see, of course a man who dates whores, strippers, pornstars, and all around promiscuous women with daddy issues and addictions isn't finding Mrs. Right. Everyone understands that, and understands why.
But most people can't figure out why poor, put upon, hot, successful Kylie Minogue can't find lasting love. Of course we all know why - because she is higher status than all of them. She has more money, more fame, more notoriety, and a more successful career, than all of her ex lovers ever had. "Struggling actor fiancé". There's your answer right there. I'd heard of Hutchence and Martinez. Can't say I'd heard of Donovan, Velencoso or Sasse before this article. At any rate, Hutchence is dead and INXS was declining at the time of his death; and Martinez has had at best a B-movie career with nowhere near the money, fame or name recognition Minogue has enjoyed, especially in Europe where she's most popular.
To people in the know, this isn't hard to figure out at all. Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh split up right around the time his career was waning and hers was really taking off, especially in the US where she was getting and taking many more movie roles. Though Branagh has the higher pedigree, people were naming Thompson along with Streep and Kate Hepburn as "Among Best Actresses Of All Time". And so it ended.
Funny - Streep has been married to an artist/sculptor named Don Gummer since 1978, right when she was 29 and her career was just taking off (this was while she was making Kramer vs. Kramer, her first breakthrough role). Gummer is a respected sculptor in his own right and is rarely seen in the spotlight with his much, much more famous wife. He has his own career which has nothing to do with hers. Which, I would venture, has a lot to do with how they've been able to stay together for almost 40 years.
This could be my sister. She's a twice divorced single mom who "dates" guys in their twenties (she's 44) and can't figure out why she's single. I have come to believe she's incapable of making good decisions.
The perfect example of the OPPOSITE of this is Phoebe Cates. She was huge for a good part of the 80s, gorgeous, big career, but then in the early 90s (at least 25 years ago) she left her career to raise her children and have a family. Sure it's not the Perfect example since she's also married to an actor, but it shows how even with everything else (show biz career, with another person in the business) being the same, that ONE choice to prioritize her family made her lot in life much better. She's 5 years older the Kylie, has a family, and seems genuinely content. Granted I have to admit i'm just a big fan of her Husband Kevin Kline...
Kevin Kline snagged Phoebe Cates?? Wow, and good on Kline. He is high in the SSH.
She was something else twenty years ago. A bit sad watching the post-wall thrashing of a former 10.
Stg58- Yup, they married in 1989. She would have been about 26, just about the perfect time for her to consider getting off the market before career related carouselling would become the norm. She met him in 1983, when she would've been 20 (per wikipedia) ironically while auditioning for The Big Chill, a movie about boomers facing their mortality.
Twenty years his senior? Never a long term prospect.
@APL
Now, now... she could be extraordinarily lucky and run into a fag needing a beard like Hugh Jackman. Cross fingers!
Told me I should find some single mom and marry her.
I just asked "Why would I want to deal with other people's mistakes?"
@Michael Maier
Kids take up a huge amount of your time, money, and attention. There's a da-n good reason we refer to men willing to wife up a single mom (or be talked into adopting Africans) as cucks.

@de ti
It may help if the spouses are in unrelated fields where the wife doesn't feel that she has to compete with her husband. That may be Kylie Minogue's problem right there: she's looking to date someone like herself. That type of narcissism never ends well.
The perfect example of the OPPOSITE of this is Phoebe Cates.
@thenathanielm
Phoebe Cates was lucky in that she found an actor husband AND didn't feel like constantly competing with him. Possibly because he was alpha enough to quiet her compulsion to do so. Somehow I suspect that Kylie has never had a boyfriend higher than a Delta. I mean, a male model? Come on!
I guess it didn't help that Ken Branagh was cheating on Thompson with Helena Bonham Carter.

Actually this was hypergamy in action. The truth was Phoebe was pretty low on the Hollywood totem pole. While nerds remember her fondly from Germlins 1 and 2. She mostly was doing requite nudity in 1980s sex comedies. That was how Hollywood thought of her, she was the lead set of tits.
Kline on the other hand had real respect within the community. Not really a boxoffice A-lister but he had a lot of respect. When she married him, she was marrying upward in her world.
Also she basically quit acting to raise her family. Check her IMDB page.
She seems to be happy enough. I think she kind of wanted to quit.
The important thing to remember and that I have said repeatedly is this...
Never.
Date.
An.
Actress.
You are never going to be able to provide the attention she needs and actresses need a SHIT TON of attention.
All women have a drive to seek attention. It's a genetic need. Sex is ultimately a receptive act for any woman so if she can't gain attention she won't reproduce.
But with actresses that need is broken. They need too much, constant attention. Only a cheering audience can give an actress what she truly needs...you just can't.
Cataline- True, though I would argue she might have broached A list where Kevin Kline most likely didn't. She certainly made a savvy decision. She probably saw the writing on the wall, either she started taking roles she didn't really want to do or not really working as much. The key is she left before either of those choices were necessary. She probably knew she wasn't going to reach that high level where she couldn't be abused by the business so she opted out. And she was with and stayed with KK from 20-26, her prime hollywood years, which shows character on her part. And smarts that she left when she did.

Yeah. Even when her man divorced her, there are usually good reasons single moms are in their situation.
I think Cates got out of the business at just the right time. Sure the teenage high school sex comedies were dead but look at what would have awaited her in the 1990s.

The only shame about the Phoebe Cates/Kevin Kline union is that their daughter looks like him. Look up Greta Kline- nature was not as kind as she could have been.
Didn't Kylie have her tits cut off?
@SQT
Christie Brinkley's daughter looks like Billy Joel.
When I was in high school, for the first two years I was a big acting turd in a very small community bowl. A number of teachers and students asked me if I was planning on going to Hollywood which was only two hours away! It only took me those two years to realize "that way leads insanity!"
Sure, I could act like I was happy, sad, angry, despairing; but I wasn't. Or was I? When you can put on an emotion, any emotion, and convince people you mean it, when you're only saying words written by another, how can you know if what you think you're really feeling is what you really feel?
See? Confusion. I quite literally didn't know "who" I was or whether "what" feeling I was performing was really me feeling or not. If my goal was just to con someone because I wanted something I could "act" any emotion that might persuade them. But did that mean I didn't REALLY feel that way?
Terrible questions for a 15-16 year old boy face alone. My family moved shortly thereafter and I never looked back.
When Robin Williams committed suicide, having watched his career from his first appearance on "Happy Days" and the first episode of "Mork & Mindy", I deeply believed something like that would have happened to me as well, but probably much, much sooner.
All actors who can afford it are in therapy. There's a legitimate reason. They're wrecks as human beings.
OT, but...
What's happening with the Canadian Mosque shooting. It seems to me that it's dropped right out of sight. The news cycle on this story was about, what three days?
Normally events like this, where there is a white shooter and black victims drag on and on for weeks, without missing an opportunity to tell whitey how racist he is.
What's different this time?
Marriage is too important to leave in the hands of women. Time for Patriarchy 2.0
Christie Brinkley's daughter is still pretty though. At least I think so. Maybe Cates's daughter could be pretty if she put some effort into it. She seems like she just gave up.
The musician/rockstar thing is interesting. I know an aging rock star whose self-reported notch count is over 100, but he ended up settling down in his 40s with someone in her 30s (I think). Strikes me as one of those guys who doesn't know about Game because when you're a literal rock star you don't have to try?
Vox told an anecdote about, some girl was into him because feelz when he was singing, but then had no feelz the next day in a mall. That gave me a weird idea, maybe you can improve your SS rank by being an ordinary delta during the day but putting on stubble and a guitar and singing at night?
For those wondering, the Kline/Cates daughter goes by the name Frankie Cosmos.
NO matter how pretty she is, out there, somewhere, is a guy who's tired of her shit.
