Omega Rage?

The above is the portrait of 28 year-old Andreas Lubritch, who appears to have deliberately murdered all of the passengers of the flight he was co-piloting.

"the 28-year-old German co-pilot (who was alive to the end) refused to re-open the door and began an "intentional", "controlled", and "steady" descent as he "seems to have sought to destroy the plane.""

Why he did it, no one knows yet, but it won't surprise me to learn that Lubritch was a deeply angry and embittered Omega male. There is a reason Omegas frighten women merely by existing; they are capable of terrible and merciless acts of self-destruction. You can see Lubritch is a small and prematurely balding young man, possibly somewhat overweight, his occupation indicates that he was more intelligent than the norm, and the uncertain smile he has on his face tends to indicate low socio-sexual rank.

Now, obviously no one else was responsible for Lubritch's actions if it indeed was Omega rage at work. He alone bears the blame. But it is somewhat haunting to think about how many lives might be saved each year if the sluts of the world were just a little less picky and a little more equitable in their distribution of blowjobs.

As a 28 year-old airline pilot, Lubritch would likely have been married in a more traditionally structured society. It's not impossible that the Germanwings deaths represent more of the indirect costs of feminism.

I've said it many times in the past: there is very little in this world so powerful or frightening as an ordinary man with nothing left to lose. Or, as you phrase it, an Omega ready to rage.

My thought is this was a conspiracy by the airlines. Wouldn't take many events like this to convince everybody they are better off with the computer flying the plane with 1 guy there in an emergency, and the result will be a 50% reduction in pilot labor.

Thing is, if a man never has a chance with a woman, for whatever reason, some will go off the deep end. I've known a few like that in my life. They were just plain weird and nasty. No helping folks like that. How can an Airline screen for such whackness?

If true it's pretty sad that even a pilot can be omega, they are probably kept away from the stewardess by "harassment" regulations, and of course airlines now must hire unattractive women and gay male "flight attendants". How soon until Air Force One has a similar incident?

Anonymous said...

Put airlines HR in the hands of hot young women with no real skills of their own. Tell them how awesome their intuition is and encourage them to use a lot of it in their hiring practices.

Of course the airlines will likely all go into financial ruin in 5 years, but at least none of the pilots will be Omegas.

And also, it will close off one more opportunity of Omegas to have satisfying careers and increase their chances of raging, but at least not at the controls of an airplane.

Laguna Beach Fogey said...

If it's true Andreas committed this act out of rage from having been spurned or neglected, then ultimately it's a woman (or women and feminism in general) who is behind this.

I can already see the articles being written about his crappy love life: "The Sorrows of Young Andreas".

This is the perfect time to speculate, point fingers, and make accusations.

If its suicide its not unreasonable to think this is a kind of revenge against society thing. I know nothing about his personal life but I'd bet plenty of money on him being single and sexless, also shy/quiet and regarded as reasonably polite and decent at least on the surface. All of those US school shooters are always absolute failures with women, why do we never see men who do well with women doing these sorts of things? Theres a "pearl jam jeremy" hiding inside a lot of men. Why some people go so bad and everybody else makes do who knows.

The extrovert bad guy would never do something like this, when slighted he's always going to let it out immediately even if the results are bad for him. Deep spiritual/emotional pain can go ugly or go beautiful.

It's not that ridiculous to attribute this to omega rage. The picture above reminds me of an ex; he was ex-army and had about a dozen photo albums full of pictures of his travels while he was stationed overseas. He would always go by himself to famous landmarks, set up his tripod, snap a picture, then leave. I thought it was odd and pitiable, but he wanted to prove he was well traveled. They were very lonely looking pictures.

That picture looks very similar to those many, lonely self-portraits in my ex's photo albums. It shows that Andreas most likely didn't have many friends or even colleagues that wanted to spend time with him. So, it's not that far-fetched of a notion that he was omega and angry at the world.

Yup. The Omega half-grin, the hands wrung together, the body language overall. Not unlike me several years ago, before I "matured," as several others have put it. Unfortunately, it was largely due to what I learned from Roissy's site (tempered by my Catholicism) rather than from family or the broader culture. Most Omegas never "mature", because they never figure out how to... and then they get frustrated, sometimes with deadly consequences.

I just wonder what changes will have to be made to prevent this kind of thing from happening again. The pilot had to take a p!ss at some point.

If we are going to imagine motives at this early stage my bet is that this is some variation on the love triangle, in which Lubritch of course would have come out second to the pilot. Libritch probably got a twofer, the pilot and a stew. Let them think about that all the the way down.

Omega rage was my first thought as well.

While there may be possible changes to society that would reduce the amount of omega rage in the world, I suspect it will always be with us. Steven Pinker on the topic:

But running amok is not unique to America, to Western nations, or even to modern societies. Amok is a Malay word for the homicidal sprees occasionally undertaken by lonely Indochinese men who have suffered a loss of love, a loss of money, or a loss of face. The syndrome has been described in a culture even more remote from the West: the stone-age foragers of Papua New Guinea.

The amok man is patently out of his mind, an automaton oblivious to his surroundings and unreachable by appeals or threats. But his rampage is preceded by lengthy brooding over failure, and is carefully planned as a means of deliverance from an unbearable situation. The amok state is chillingly cognitive. It is triggered not by a stimulus, not by a tumor, not by a random spurt of brain chemicals, but by an idea. The idea is so standard that the following summary of the amok mind-set, composed in 1968 by a pschiarist who had interviewed seven hospitalized amoks in Papua New Guinea, is an apt description of the thoughts of mass murderers continents and decades away:

I am not an important or "big man." I possess only my personal sense of dignity. My life has been reduced to nothing by an intolerable insult. Therefore, I have nothing to lose except my life, which is nothing, so I trade my life for yours, as your life is favoured. The exchange is in my favour, so I shall not only kill you, but I shall kill many of you, and at the same time rehabilitate myself in the eyes of the group of which I am a member, even though I might be killed in the process.

The amok syndrome is an extreme instance of the puzzle of the human emotions. Exotic at first glance, upon scrutiny they turn out to be universal; quintessentially irrational, they are tightly interwoven with abstract thought and have a cold logic of their own.

Demanding 'blow jobs' for him of course is absurd. But point taken. Based on the photo (all I know about him) I would suggest that this man, married with kids in a non-feminist culture, likely does not ditch the plane. Even his act of revenge against the world was indirect. He couldn't just stand up like a man used to, and say 'Yeah you all stomped me down and laughed, and now you're going down too'. Even the murders were passive-aggressive and 'silenced'.

Many of the violent mass-attacks of recent decades are directly attributable to the western gynarchies, and their effects of boys and men. Of course the matriarchy doesn't want such things discussed. Too much money and ego and power at stake to worry about mere people dying! Dunno if this was another such incident but the circumstantial evidence of the photo is suggestive.

So the very word "amok" comes at least into the ballpark of describing Omega rage. That is most interesting.

Bobby Dupea said...

He had 630 hours since he initiated training in 2008. This is nothing. He was a pay2fly pilot: Lufthansa sold him a training slot which he solely funded. He was suspended from the program for a while, got readmitted. His first 11 months on the line he was a ... cabin attendant serving coffee. He was flying every other leg, which means he was landing transports at 200 and a half visibility. Germanwings has scheduled an across the board 40% pay cut for Oct 2015.

I have no idea what kind of guy he is or what his issues were. But think about the above the next time you choose a flight that costs less than a pair of jeans. I would never get in a plane with someone like that unless I was flying it. Landing jets at minimums? Not in a million years, if I know it is the case.

"Secure cockpit doors" have now killed more passengers than the 9/11 terrorists. They're security theatre. Security is not safety.

I suppose, as noted above, this will accelerate the move to drone transports. However, remember that this just moves the human point of failure to the ground.

If you really want to get an upset stomach, the FAA celebrated and promoted Lubritch in 2013:

Probably nothing much. As with terrorist (or "terrorist") attacks, a certain amount of this stuff is simply the multiplicative result of modern technology. The guy who decides to rage-quit life can take a lot more others with him when people get into aluminum tubes and fly around in the sky, or live and work in cubicles stacked dozens of levels high. We can do a certain amount of personality screening for people such as pilots who are in charge of others' lives -- and maybe that should be a regular part of the job if it's not already, interviewing them on a schedule to see if something might be building up -- but that's not likely to be foolproof any time soon. Omegas can be pretty good at putting on a front. So in a technological society, there will be a mass murder/suicide once in a while, and it'll just be part of the cost of living this way, like auto accidents and lol-speak.

Agreed. Depression and anxiety? Do you think Alphas or Sigmas ever get depressed or anxious, with their mammoth self-confidence? No f**king way. Betas and Deltas? Sure, maybe, but certainly not enough to sidetrack them from their work, especially if it's something they've dreamed of doing all their lives. Not saying you are wrong. Just highly skeptical.

It is just as likely he locked the door for some alone time and got distracted fapping and didn't notice the plane crashing. Or took a nap and absently hit his heel on the altitude control knob/button/selector. Or even a confluence of two or three rare events happening at the same time. I am also not discounting SJS (Sudden Jihadi Syndrome). If this were a TV script, mind control drugs would also be possible.

It does make me wonder if someone else on the plane was worth killing.

Was the co-pilot also a highly placed bank executive?

Interesting Omega anecdote from yesterday. I went to touch a girl's hand to ask her a question, and she pulled it away without breaking eye contact or halting the flow of her conversation with the other person. She was maybe 15-18 (hard for me to tell the difference anymore), and we'd never seen each other or interacted before. Impossible to see whether the action was conscious or not- though unconscious instinct seems the more likely- but I saw a definite stress response microexpression in her face.

This was at work. Insofar as SSMV goes, I usually start out at the bottom due to first impressions (call it low Delta), but with practice and observation I have gotten pretty good at working my way up to Trusted Lieutenant through general competence and honesty (in private, naturally). The premium on honesty from subordinates is pretty good these days. This girl probably just saw my face and assumed "Omega" without knowing that I'm popular within this group.

(As far as I know, this wasn't a social faux pas on my part: my parents taught me to tap a person's shoulder and then wait to be acknowledged, rather than simply jumping in and interrupting. I jump in after ten seconds if they are disregarding my politeness.)

But naysayers have nothing to complain about here. You miss that Vox is actually making a prediction here; he's not randomly speculating, but making an informed prediction that can be tested (to a limited extent) by future data. Hopefully the data will be incoming.

In the meantime, read what Vox wrote on this and on other things; even if he's wrong on this specific instance (there are certainly other possible causes; if we find the copilot just converted to Islam we won't bother speculating about sociosexual rank), the methods Vox is using here are not in the least bit unwise or illogical; and him publishing not only his predictions but also his methods is actually pretty cool.

No, he definitely locked out the pilot. And when the pilot opened the door by punching in a numeric code, he slammed it shut in his face. All while the plane was diving. So no, you're wrong, it wasn't due to an amazingly stupid case of negligence; it was premeditated.

if we find the copilot just converted to Islam we won't bother speculating about sociosexual rank

@wtanksley
Nah, a white male convert to Islam is probably a Gamma, just like most white male atheists, SJWs, and Marxists. He wants to belong to something, but resents Western civilization and the stupid Alphas and Betas who run the world that everybody looks up to.

Bobby Dupea said...

Corvinus, the captain was pounding on the door at impact.

The airbus cockpit door has a three-position lock. One allows the person behind it in the cabin to enter a code, wait briefly, and then gain entry. One allows the door to be opened normally. One allows the captain to disable the code-based entry. What's unknown is if the locked out captain had the current code for entry (these are changed frequently, and a bad preflight brief would exclude confirmation; further, it's common for flight deck personnel to not stay current with the code updates, which are standard across a fleet and must be (obviously) cycled frequently.

In the event the Pilot Flying (PF) disables the code based system, the door (which is designed to repel small arms fire) will not open for 20-30 minutes no matter what. Or, it will open in the event of depressurization.

***

Genericviews, I suppose you're joking about the fapping and napping. However, to sustain a stabilized descent with no lateral displacement, particularly at those speeds (which exceed the FMS boundary conditions) the aircraft required the PF to manually override the FMS and handfly the plane. Among other things this aircraft has code in the emergency logic that pitches the aircraft up and returns the auto throttles to idle, given overspeed and ground proximity. Finally, there wasn't any hypoxia, rapid or explosive depressurization (as noted above, else the door would have popped, the captain would have blacked out (at FL380 you have 8-14 seconds to get your mask on), or other evidence of any cascading failure scenarios. The pilot is heard turning the whiz wheel on the altimeter and later breathing normally until impact.

Lubritch executed a professional mass murder. He chose an odd flight profile to do so, compared to other suicide/murder flights (there have been five now). A more common approach is to roll into a dive until the wings fall off or the plane tent-stakes.

The mandated 'secure door' is a safety defect. Also, unlike the USA there is not a European regulation that requires a member of the cabin crew to enter the cockpit whenever one of the pilots exists.

Calicorishev, to add to your comment, the only formal mental health screening in the USA is performed by the pilots Aviation Medical Examiner, unless a pilot risks total ostracism by reporting odd behavior. As a rule it's not done.

The AME is an outside, independent MD who has no relationship whatsoever with the airline. This is by design and in the union rules. My AME currently has guys flying transports for major airlines in the USA who have a documented history of meth, other drugs, alcohol addiction, heart failure, diabetes, etc. etc. (I do not fly the airlines and I do not have those historical pathologies.)

I think the important thing to note is how easy it is to crash any airliner when departing and arriving at the airport. A roll inverted at 500' is not recoverable.

Had I called the airline she would have been immediately grounded and her career imperiled.

My ex- then called my ex-wife and said I was drinking myself insensate when having custodial care of my son. The ex- then called CPS. You all probably know the rest of that script.

Concerning whether or not this was the indirect result of feminism (or even the case of Omega rage), I'm not entirely sure. There is something inherently wrong with someone's wiring, after all, most Omegas seem content with their position in life, otherwise these things would happen all the time. If Omega rage was the case, this guy should have learned two things:
(a) Stop taking life so seriously; learn to laugh at yourself. Life sucks but it isn't about you so learn to enjoy the ride. People only treat you horribly because you let them.
(b) Be productive and do something. A lot of artists, philosophers, and scientists were very Omega; I doubt Newton or da Vinci would have achieved success as some of the greatest minds in history if they had any kids. An accomplished incel is better than a mediocre pickup artist for the same reason a physics major is better than a business major. Life isn't all sex and partying. Go out there. Learn. Make yourself an interesting person to talk to.

This guy was a 28 year old co-pilot. You'd think he would have more assets than a most desk jockeys. While apparently it is soul crushing to go without sexual contact, he could have made a few friends and (assuming he was mentally stable, which he was not) let everything fall naturally.
