A defeat for feminists

It appears the anti-Page 3 activists celebrated too soon:
'Nicole from Bournemouth' today brought to an end speculation that Page 3 had been killed off. It had been widely thought the controversial segment in The Sun newspaper had been dropped after 44 years - and Government ministers welcomed the move.

The newspaper had not published pictures of topless glamour models since last Friday, instead advising readers the pictures would be available on its website. After reports the paper had decided to quietly drop the feature, Education Secretary Nicky Morgan and Liberal Democrat women's and equalities minister Jo Swinson were among those to express their delight at the apparent change.

Despite claims earlier this week in The Times newspaper, owned by Rupert Murdoch who also owns The Sun, that the feature had been dropped, the tabloid had refused to confirm the move.

Its head of public relations Dylan Sharpe stated on Twitter last night: ‘I said that it was speculation and not to trust reports by people unconnected to The Sun.’
And so the impossible, but never-ending quest to destroy all unapproved male activities and interests continues.

unapproved male activities

Like showering (for fear of masterbation) and looking at other attractive women?

No explanation of why there was a brief hiatus of Page 3 pictures. That tortured description doesn't say much. So much for bold keeping of principles. It is likely a lot of noise about nothing since the feminists are unlikely to buy the paper. Bring it back for they aren't going to notice it was gone and now it is back.

Masterful play by the Sun. Reel 'em in, let 'em flop around on the deck for a bit, then toss them back out, angrier than ever.

Rupert is laughing all the way to the bank. ALL publicity is good publicity.

This should be fun. Googling: Feminists React Page Three

Disappointing there wasn't nearly the hair pulling I was hoping for:

.
"They are continuing to use women to sell newspapers as they have done for 45 years.

Sex sells? How is this a thing?

"We feel badly for the groups that supported us, the teaching unions, breast cancer charities, Rape Crisis, the nurses, midwives and the Girl Guides."

Is this the British version of Teachers, Firemen and Police?

"Anything that opens up the debate about media sexism is a good thing."

See what I mean? Dull. Where is the demon-crazy I can laugh at and make fun of. They are not pulling their weight here.

“So Sun going back to doing #page3? bit like drunken letchy uncle at a wedding who doesn’t get the message. Makes everyone uncomfortable.”

Nnnnnno...not really. Just a bit of projection here. Just a bit of unpleasant memories being triggered. This is not a normal reaction.

"So it seems the fight might be back on. Thanks to @TheSunNewspaper for all the publicity they’ve given the campaign."

I detect genuine gratitude here. Any tweets of triumph that were issued were only out of a sense of obligation and with underling sadness

Good news! Yes, you and friends still have a place where you can get together and bitch endlessly about women who are younger and much more attractive than you are.

Neither are lookers, to say the least. And Miz Swinson sort of resembles Amanjaw Marcuntte.

The scuttlebutt at the time was that it was done with the caveat that it not hurt sales noticeably. Presumably enough people cancelled their subscriptions to deflate their test balloon.

Thus said the feminist: "competition is a sin"

It's great fun.

Here in England we recently had K. Kardashian's ugly fat saggy nude bottom presented to us by Feminist's as "a triumph for Girl Power (feminism)". Yet models seeking to make money in topless shoots are apparently not allowed. The arbitrary, not to mention fascist nature of these pronouncements has made a lot of Englishmen angry and the Feminists premature announcement of victory had been widely mocked in public forums.

The Jo Swinson woman is a piece of work. She is the woman's minister in a minor left-wing party (The Liberal Democrats), which unfortunately holds a position of power within the British two -party coalition government. Recently there was a major scandal within her party, where several female interns complained of sexual harassment by the party's oily chairman. They were able to demonstrate harassment, including offers of advancement in return for sex, over an extended period of time, and including a large number of women. Swinson, the Women's Minster and the official source of support for women within the Lib Dems, closed ranks with the party leadership and refused to support them.

Jo Swinson sounds like she'd make a great employee of the Clinton Machine.

It's a temporary defeat. When old Rupert dies they'll end it, assuming hordes of jealous middle aged women don't find some way to get the government involved before then.

Particularly in the UK, the leftists and feminists have the momentum.

Unsurprising, since the UK seems to have as many atheists as the US.

I'm not surprised at the hypocrisy of "progressives" / feminists when they want to #freethenipple while also wanting to #page3takedown.

I'm not surprised that some to the loudest advocates of #page3takedown are ugly & or unappealing people.

Yet I am surprised that The Sun has reversed course. Oh well, the feminist frustration from this just made my day!
