Gamma Delusion: the play

A demonstration of Gamma male delusion in five acts:
ACT I

GUY: I WILL NOT DATE YOU IF YOU ARE A FEMINIST Woman: Great! Thank you. GUY: YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO REACT THAT WAY Woman: Oh, but I AM.

    — John Scalzi (@scalzi) September 25, 2014

ACT II

GUY: OH HEY THERE BABY YOU LOOK LIKE YOU COULD USE COMPA- Woman: I'm a feminist. GUY: NOOOO THE BURNING MAKE IT STOP (flees) (Woman smiles)

    — John Scalzi (@scalzi) September 25, 2014

ACT III

GUY: HEY THERE BAB- Woman: Feminist. GUY: LIKE A REAL FEMINIST OR ARE YOU JUST TRYING TO GET RID OF ME Women: Why not both?

    — John Scalzi (@scalzi) September 25, 2014

ACT IV

GUY: HI THER- Women: Feminist. GUY: THIS WHOLE BAR CAN'T BE FULL OF FEMINISTS (Every women in bar nods) GUY: HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD

    — John Scalzi (@scalzi) September 25, 2014

ACT V

GUY: I STRUCK OUT AT THE BAR BUT I HAVE THIS LOTION AND MY HAND Guy's Hand: Feminist. GUY: OH COME ON Lotion: Me too. GUY: NOOOOOOOO

    — John Scalzi (@scalzi) September 25, 2014
Gamma males have to believe that most women are feminists because their primary strategy for winning female favor is self-abasement and supplication. This can work if your object is for women to say nice things about you, but it's considerably less effective in causing women to be attracted to you.

As many readers know, I'm married to a highly attractive woman. And I've always dated women at the upper end of the spectrum "despite" the fact that I have always been notoriously anti-feminist; a woman once wrote an actual column in our university newspaper decrying me and my two housemates as "sexist pornographers" and a poem I wrote that was published in the university Poetry annual caused half the staff to resign afterwards.

Its last line was, "Why, then, does she let me fuck her?" It was a paean to female inconsistency and the women who publicly indicate that they want nothing to do with you, but nevertheless show up for sex in the small hours of the morning.

It's just that inconsistency that causes the Gamma to inflate his delusion bubble. He takes women at their word, which of course is why he reliably fails with them. He doesn't realize that there are few things hotter to a feminist than a contemptuous man of high socio-sexual rank who sneers at her false pretensions to equality. In short, the Gamma is a man who fails every shit test he encounters because he doesn't understand the nature of the test or female attraction triggers.

As for the Gamma fantasy of all women being feminists, well, it's just that, a fantasy. Because all women are not ugly man-haters bitter about their lack of sexual desirability or manipulative idiots playing victim.

That guy is a writer?

Considering what the GUY desired and his only purpose for the woman was revealed in act V, it makes no sense to have excluded any, except perhaps a shoggoth with bad hygiene.
Rewritten: Act I: Guy: I don't date women who won't have sex with me on the first date...

But then it wouldn't be pink fiction. Or the woman's response would be unrealistic.

I've not seen any pink mysteries, but it would go on such that in the last chapter the caracatured misogenist is found guilty without evidence, clues, witnesses, motive, or logic because the rest of the characters are feminists. Each chapter having the investigator go about presenting no clues, merely determining how feminist the suspects are.

Blueshifting to the civilization edition:
Guy: I don't believe in wasting time with women who don't want to be a wife and mother or who think they can be slutty until then ...

The sad fantasy world of John Scalzi. Where the big-swinging-dick, dude-bro always comes up dry in a bar.

Odd little guy.

Around puberty every boy automatically looks around and finds a male to imprint on. That male becomes his definition of manhood. If his actual father is not available, he will imprint on some other guy, even if that guy is only fourteen. The problem is you will have the values of a fourteen year old male all your life. Witness America's ghettos.

Scalzi appears to have the opposite problem. He clearly imprinted on his mother as the model of perfect manhood.

Women must be a constant source of dissapoint for John Scalzi.

Now that just sounds too good not to share.

Odd little guy.

No kidding. Even ignoring the politics and pink/blue stuff, his writing (online; I haven't read his books) is just shriekingly insecure and try-hard. It's creepy in a way that goes beyond even a gamma writing about his failures. Maybe he's what you get when a gamma achieves unexpected success and feels he's supposed to act alpha.

So, feminists are intimidated and scared of assertive guys?

That's what my boss at work is like. He got the job because of his father-in-law's connections. It's painful to watch his contortions. He's ncredibly conflict-averse an passive aggressive, so you can't talk to him about anything that may even remotely reflect poorly on him. He tries to lead by manipulation, outright lying, and spinning the narrative. Worst boss I ever had.

Scalzi's play is the pathetic fantasy of the unpopular kid in high school who reconstructs the world "the way it ought to be" so that "nice guys" (like him) get the girl and the "assholes" get denied.

This fantasy bears little relationship to observed reality.

Was he trying to be funny?

He should try harder or not at all.

And what's with the DRUNK HULK imitation?

What a turd. I'm certainly not a feminist, and get offended when I'm automatically lumped into that group because I have lady parts.

Scalzi oppressed me!

If that's how he writes dialogue, it's no wonder that Syfy snatched him up. They'll broadcast any piece if shite they can get their hands in as long as its got a spaceship in it.

And I had such high hopes for that network when it first aired...

Actual John Scalzi dialog:

“Man, I owe you a blowjob,” Duvall said.

“What?” Dahl said.

“What?” Hester said.

“Sorry,” Duvall said. “In ground forces, when someone does you a favor you tell them you owe them a sex act. If it’s a little thing, it’s a handjob. Medium, blowjob. Big favor, you owe them a fuck. Force of habit. It’s just an expression.”

“Got it, Dahl said.

omg, that was delusional. i won't have a relationship with a feminist but i will bang her. no wonder io9 is always puching his work.

I must be extra "gamma" because I am convinced that nearly all western women (and men) are feminists. Either that or we disagree on what a feminist is. Personally I don't care if I'm gamma, delta, beta, or alpha. I could care less what any woman thinks of me. What matters to me is if I'm doing right by God.

Feminism is the prevailing ideology in the Western world and we are swimming in it. Almost everyone I know is a feminist, and many of them don't even know it.

A better play:

Man: Hello.
Girl: I'm a Feminist.
Man: That's cute.
Girl: Why won't you date me?
Man: You're a feminist
Girl: Oh, that? Well, not really, I don't take it too seriously. Can I make you a sandwich...?

Exaunt, to Gamma tears

Do all gamma males write like teenage girls? Because if I didn't already know who Scalzi was, I'd assume a teenage girl had written that.

SirHamster said...

Last conversation I had where feminism was mentioned:

Girl: Looking at the issue from a feminist point of view ...
Me: Do you consider yourself a feminist?
Girl: No!

So
1.) girls will identify as non-feminist (even if infected with some feminist ideas)
2.) girls who go the distance to identify as feminists have issues. See how Scalzi's idea of a feminist woman is not acting remotely attractive.

One of his hard-core female science fiction fans responds:

Note to self: If I ever find myself single, get t-shirts made in different colors that say FEMINIST in big letters. Also get sweat pants with FEMINIST across the booty.

Yes, please. And cut your hair while you are at it! It'll look really cute, and you'll never have to worry about being accidentally attractive to a man every again. I won't judge you. Heck, I won't even notice you!

Eric said...

I don't mind at all when women identify themselves as feminists. The "for fucking only" and "potential relationship material" categorization is much faster and easier.

She's only so attractive that multiple idiot detractors publicly claim I must be inventing her because they think her pictures are too pretty to credibly be my wife.

I've noticed that women who post pics like this one with the anti-feminism thing are usually pretty hot. I still pay it no mind as it seems like they simply know that things are better for them in "reality" world. If they were ugly most of them would be feminazis like the rest.

I'd call them gamma females since they are in many ways simply playing up to men, but come on that chick would have her pic of any man here if they were single.

She's wearing a smile and not a feminist. So definitely above average.

This is rather sad sniping.

I read the first few comments on the Whatever post and I can't tell whether his followers really think he's funny, if they're all just sycophants or if the liberal brain is just that stunted in its development. I can't imagine anyone over the age of twenty five using the word, "burn" the way they do over there. It's like the nerd table in high school mocking the AV club and the hemp heads.

verus, that's pretty disingenuous to both cut my quote down and use it without the qualifier. It says I'd (I would) call them gamma, but...

Maybe scalzi's blow up doll can explain why he is so hot in her opinion. If there really is an appeal of fairy men to women I want to hear an intellectual case for it. FTR I'm as open minded as anyone I just don't believe this feminist Shiite for one second, but if they have an intellectual case for fairy hetero men let us hear it.

My wife, who occasionally talks about cutting her hair short (to get a rise out of me) saw the blond on "Big Bang Theory" had cut her hair short. She was repulsed. I predict a loss in ratings for the show, maybe not a la "Felicity", but likely noticeable. She dropped at least a couple of points in SMV. Combined with aging... guess people will have to watch for the gay guy pretending to be genius hetero (sort of) male with Aspergers while spouting all the Science that Hollywood thinks is real.
