Feminist fascism starts young

It would have been a more salient lesson had the mother gotten the bookstore employees to burn the offending books. And check out what Mommy does:
“We were browsing around in the bookstore, and suddenly I heard my daughter calling out, ‘Mama! You have to look at this!’” recalls Cooper. “So, of course, I thought she'd found something she wanted to buy, but it was completely the opposite. She was looking at two books that had made her so enraged she was actually in tears.”

The books, titled “How To Survive (Almost) Anything,” included a boy version and a girl version. In the boy version, the chapters covered topics such as “How to Survive a Shark Attack,” “How to Survive in a Desert,” and “How to Survive Whitewater Rapids.”

The girl version addressed such issues as “How to Survive a BFF Fight,” “How to Survive a Fashion Disaster,” and “How to Survive a Breakout.”

“The one that got to my daughter the most was ‘How to Survive a Camping Trip’ because she loves camping,” Cooper said. “It was sad to read ‘camping may not always be a girl's top choice of activity, but here's how to make the best of a bad situation and survive in style.’ The picture had a girl dreaming about lounging on a beach. Later it said, ‘Besides, fresh air is excellent for the skin, and a brisk walk is a marvelous workout.’”

KC was so upset at the sexist nature of the books that a bookstore employee took notice and asked her what was wrong.

“After looking through the books, the employee agreed they were offensive and pulled them from the shelves! She said if she had seen them first they wouldn’t have been there to begin with. She was great because she took action and validated my daughter’s feelings.”

Cooper, a science fiction writer, is proud of her daughter for drawing attention to the books and having them removed from the store, and took this experience as a lesson learned for both KC and herself.
She's no shrinking violet, but she bursts into tears at the sight of a book she doesn't like.  Right. This is the punchline from the idiot mother: "Unfortunately it triggered a somewhat nasty flurry of comments about censorship, which I feel really distracted from the point of the post."

No, you mother-from-Hell, censorship is the entire point of the post! And no man in his right mind is ever going to come within 10 feet of that mentally poisoned little girl; she'll be writing wistfully about dinosaur rape, wondering why no boy wants to come within 20 feet of her, and blaming all her problems on sexism by the time she's eighteen. The girl would have been much better off in life if the bookstore employee said: "we don't give a quantum of a damn about your feelings, you little evolutionary dead end; what other people write and what other people read isn't any business of yours."

Equality is the reason you can't have good books.

Because it's all about her feelings. Feminists are bitter partly because they can't accept that life isn't all about them, so of course life is terribly disappointing.

"My Dear, I am heartily sorry that this book has made you feel bad. Would you like me to take care of this for you?"

Little girl nods yes as she sobs.

"Yes, yes, well here, just give me that book. This is the one? Looking at it makes you feel bad? Okay, well here's what you do. You just put it right back on the shelf where you found it - yes, just like that - and then you just... ignore it! See? Isn't that easy? Nothing could be easier. Now, toddle off and look for a a book that makes you happy, perhaps something about a strong, independant woman who uses kung fu to fight off baby seal clubbers or some such. And remember, if a book makes you feel bad, just put it back and don't trouble your...er... pretty... little head about it."

I wonder how Constance would feel if her books were removed not for any PC reason but because, well, they're just not very good.

The covers of thsoe books are interesting. The boy's book has a big alligator and a small picture of a boy looking at the gator, away from the viewer. The girl's book cover has two images of an adventurous girl, both smiling at the viewer. Quite the contrast between the dangerous alligator on the boy's cover and the prominent peace sign on the girl's cover. I wonder what that says about how boys and girls respond to different images.

So the mother is happy that her daughter learned that she could cry to authority and have her feelings validated. Whatever happened to tnkgrrlpwr.

I want to post a useful interesting reply, but all I have to offer is that I liked and laughed at this post.

But I guess it's all okay as long as the little tykes feelings were validated.

Not a shrinking violet, but a shrinking violator.

Another difference between men and women - men ignore quite a bit - they have a high threshold. Women must hunt down and burn every trivial heretic. Or Gamma Hare-i-tic.

Someone needs to convince either Google or Bing that Men should have Midol ads, and women have Viagra Ads, otherwise the algorithm is sexist. (A woman, as in "ruin everything"). Disclaimer: I have no interest in any adblock company, but would invest on margin under such circumstances

Honestly though, if my girl were more interesting in surviving "fashion disasters" than shark attacks, I'd throw her in the ocean.

Having just come from Mike Duran's site, where a lot of emotional adults from SCCL are using manipulation to silence (and threaten!) people, I wish I could warn this mother of what happens when you encourage emotional manipulation in children. That is really all the mother has done, and the outcome is not going to be pretty if she continues to encourage her daughter this way.

Sucks to be Cooper. Be careful what you ask for. As with most progressives, she has no concept of "Cause and effect", so when her daughter stabs her in the neck with scissors for not buying her the newest pair of shoes or purse she wants, Cooper will bleed out on her living room floor with the final thought of "why?".

Considering the obvious its why some believe that bookstores died.

EQ-Feminism is still a failure.

So she was upset it didn't have "how to survive finding disturbing books at the bookstore" in the girls book? is that it? otherwise why not just buy the one you want? Oh I know, it made the cis-gendered daughter uncomfortable because she started to fear(homophobe!) her sexuality or gender because she was identifying with the boys book!

I've got $50 here that says mommy manipulated her into bawwing in the first place.

One wag I read recently said it best. Watching liberals and feminists whine is like watching children play Uno: the one that screams 'I'm OFFENDED!!!!!' the loudest - wins!

I will say something else too - there is a proliferation of female authors these days and I can't read 90% of their dreck either. Good grief - I would give my left nut to read something that DOESN'T revolve around a strong, independent young woman with two suitors, a father complex, and latent problems with homosexuality! Can I sue Kobo or Kindle for trying to drown me in mind - numbing dreck like that? Hell...you could have every second science fiction writer taken out and shot at random and NOT do a stitch of damage to the genre. I can't read that crap at all anymore either! Listen, morons - a beautiful, 120 lb. fashion model will NOT be able to beat up a 600 lb. armour plated alien with 6" fangs and claws, OK? Sheesh!

If one of you kindly gents is gifted with facility for the written word I would pay handsomely for your work.

Envy is a powerful vice, one that men need to swap down with the sheer force of their masculinity. No you can't do anything I can do better little miss prissy pants.

Gender based children's books are bad, but hardcore porn in libraries is good.

Got that?

Is there such a thing as a Future Darwin Award? Because it looks likely that the mother has pretty much put an end [although probably 50 years away] to her DNA being passed into the future. Perhaps not in such a spectacular way is young, idiot males, but still awesomely effectively.

Remember when it was right wingers that tried to burn books and suppress opposing views they found distasteful? Ah the good old days...

I wonder if these books were actually meant to lampoon traditional gender stereotypes. Some of the quotes seem over the top.

Or perhaps bank on the fact that when a society manages to almost completely obliterate a truth and replace it with a lie, then any exposure to the truth is like a royal feast suddenly appearing before a starving man. So, the presentation needs to be a bit over the top to catch the child's attention that this here is something else, and once he is dragged in, he will either need an adult to take the temptation away from him, or else devour it.

Libraries are another place where there is feminism censorship of books. Nazis burnt books but feminists ban them!

there are a FEW sci-fi books out there that do not follow the common modern formula that was stated above. however, that said, it is very difficult to find these books. best thing that ever happened was the internet explosion. i never realized just how many GOOD books and short stories were written back in the halcyon days of science fiction.

in fact, books and short stories that fell lshort of heinlein, asimov, zelany are, nowadays, worthy of being best sellers. if only when they are held up to what is modern day, "science fiction".

guys, there is a treasure trove of GOOD SCI-FI out there. it IS dated some, but nevertheless, it IS good reading. as to present day modern womyn sci-fi writers? go suck some neutron juice from a trans-spatial space weasel i say!
