Missing the obvious conclusion

I think the author of this article has failed to note the more significant aspect of the experiment here:
Okc_ebooks creator Sam Kriss made a fake female profile on the dating site OkCupid, through which he responds to unsolicited messages from men with quotes from @horse_ebooks, the surreal Twitter bot that streams nonsensical snippets of text. The result: dozens of conversations from horny men desperately vying to have sex with a robot.
There is no question that it is pathetic what the average man will put up with in his pursuit of sexual gratification.  But surely it is more significant, and more troubling, to discover that dozens of men cannot tell the difference between genuine female communication online and a surreal Twitter bot streaming "nonsensical snippets of text".

Wait, there's a difference..?

Nonsensical scripts of text actually make more sense than some female communication.

It's doubly funny because the author of the article bemoans the fact that when PUAs describe a routine, the female's response is always: 'bla bla bla'.

I had never heard if this bot, but I'm already in tears for laughing.

Every man trying to date online is now a "Pick Up Artist"

If only they were . . .

If only women were this interesting.

Devil bunnies! I snort the nose, Lucifer! Banana, banana!

Doesn't have the artistic, surprising quality of the bot's randomness. Like Randall Munroe has said,

If you Huffman-coded all the ‘random’ things everyone on the internet has said over the years, you’d wind up with, like, 30 or 40 bytes *tops*.

Talking to woman online is painful.

"Hold the pickles."

No wonder these guys went with the sex talk quickly.

Which would be more troubling--that these men aren't able to distinguish between the bot and real women, or that women's banter is so nonsensical and random that it can't be distinguished from a bot's dribblings?

This reminded me to ask, have you gotten your Three Wolf Moon Short Sleeve Tee yet?

It's all the rage! Don't believe me? Read the first few 5 star reviews - there are almost 2400 reviews for this doubleplusgood shirt.

That did read like all the spam posts, didn't it. Sorry. Real woman. Stupid shirt with a viral following.

I'm surprised no one picked up on Stickwick's "Bloom County" quotes.

Terrifying video.

Wait the topic was Kriss - how any man failed to feed whatever they were sent into an gender writing analyzer, since theirs completely failed, reflects stupidity not just desperation.

And if it isn't stupidity, desperation or filth it is the much talked about zoo-like, low mentality fakery in ALL online dating and social networking sites.

I mean the stream of comments were completely pointless and generic. Yet based on a half assed picture, its instant attention.

Hilarious.

I got the Bloom County references.

It seems pretty clear that PUA "training" != Alpha, or even Game (since it's not about canned approaches or lines at all). Still, the one-way chats are pretty amusing.

hahaha, this is hilarious!

I'm going to make a fake POF account and try 'opening' women with this thing. I want to see how women respond to it.

1) The lack of spelling mistakes is an obvious tip off that the girl is really over 30 (or a robot sourcing material written by somebody over 30).

2) The lack of self-focus is an absolute red flag tip off that the girl is either a robot or a guy. No girl can go that long without referencing herself.

dustydog said...

Now, if somebody makes a random quote robot that drops the pronouns I, me, we, my, our and the verbs want & like randomly into the sentences, then nobody will be able to tell if it is an American girl.
