OK folks. @micknugent and I are looking into possible dates for his appearance on my show. On our "to discuss" list: @pzmyer
PZ Myers @pzmyersNow, can you imagine George Bush, or even Barack Obama, attempting to preemptively disqualify criticism that hasn't even been articulated yet, by claiming that discussing them is "sad and pathetic"?
That's just sad and pathetic. Have fun, kids!
Men like Donald Trump and Mike Cernovich not only don't fear being discussed, they know that even negative attention will serve their objectives.

But Scalzi has already made himself into such a total male feminist joke.......no redemption is ever possible.
I also notice a lot of condescension by implying the opposition is immature. "pats head" "kid" "run along" etc. They tend to pose like they're your dad. Or mom. That tweet is a twofer.

Right. Mike and Donald know that it is not what people say about you, but what you make out of it what counts.
Here's another insight into Gammas, from watching the Milgram Experiment documentary.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXn2SZfwuSc
The first guy (10-minute mark) is a Beta. He quits at 150 Volts when the "learner" quits.
The second guy is an Alpha. He actually chuckles in sadistic amusement at the learner's yelps, and displays zero sympathy whatsoever, but he also quits when the learner quits. Why? Because "to hell" with the experimenter, that's why.
The third guy is a Delta. He goes until the learner has obviously passed out and is clearly uncomfortable, but eventually draws the line at around 345 V. Poor guy is like a puppy.
The fourth guy (21-minute mark) is a Gamma. He complains that he won't take responsibility, but when the experimenter says "I'll take responsibility" he continues applying shocks to, presumably, an unresponsive corpse. Skip to 33 minutes to watch him continue applying the highest shock until the experimenter stops him, then 34:45 to watch him answer questions.
Using the Milgram experiment as a baseline, it would be interesting to see if changing the sexes of the participants - experimenter, teacher, and learner - would make a difference in the teacher's willingness to follow orders and hurt the learner.
This would require a more extensive set of participants, since there are so many more experimental combinations, and you'd have to take all participants from the same racial-ethnic group so that race is not a variable.
I'd bet that male teachers would be less willing to hurt female learners under the direction of a male experimenter, and more willing to hurt female learners under the direction of a female learner, but that the female teachers would be willing to hurt both male and female learners equally regardless of the sex of the experimenter.
So are you saying that one of the signs of Alpha is enjoyment over inflicting unwarranted pain?
@Aeoli Pera
Milgram himself was not a trustworthy figure. Clearly a self promoting coward and sadist. His experiment has serious criticisms against it. Take his experiment with a large grain of salt.

Did you watch the video?
"If he refuses? I won't."
"You can take the check back, I'm not going to hurt the guy."
