Plumper princesses

Because fat teenagers don't need to learn to stop stuffing their greedy little mouths, they need to be coddled and made to feel good about themselves as they gobble ever more doughnuts and ice cream:
A teenage girl has launched a petition for Disney to make a plus-size princess in the wake of controversy over whether the company promotes an unrealistic feminine ideal. Jewel Moore, a high school junior from Farmville, Virginia, wrote on her Change.org page that since Disney has such a huge influence on young girls, it should create a princess with a curvy body to 'show support to a group of girls who are otherwise horrendously bullied by the media.'... Citing research that 'a child's confidence correlates greatly with how much representation they have in the media,' she says a plus-size Disney princess would be a positive step towards body acceptance.
What Princess Chubbawumba doesn't realize is that the objective is not body acceptance, but rather, body transformation. There is no such thing as a positive step towards body acceptance, body acceptance is nothing more than the acceptance of a negative thing.

Or she could turn of the TV.

Being chubby isn't anything any girl should aspire to, obviously. If Disney complies, what's to prevent women from suing them over their diabetes/heart problems because a fat Disney princess inspired the to live an unhealthy lifestyle?

But wait, if Disney has such a huge effect over young girls, why are so many fat? It appears they are not listening already.

This girl is trying to mange the symptoms but not the cause. The solution for these women and men for that matter is more than just psychological discipline of not stuffing their face Physiological their bodies are telling them to eat more because they are all eating a low fat diet The paleo diet is the real deal. Eating nutritious fat and protein based food tells your body to stop eating. When your not getting the vitamins and minerals you need, your body physiological is telling you to eat more food in desparate attempt to get the nutrition it needs. The low fat diet is nothing more than another government supported idea that has failed miserably.

And deal with the hormone crisis that seems to be affecting modern women. It seems like so many women are on the Pill because of hormonal irregularities, and I'm talking married, chaste women in my family. It's not just a cover story. This is on top of thyroid issues, PCOS, etc. Pretty much all those issues make it danged hard to lose weight. With PCOS in particular the medications can make it even harder to lose weight. I had a friend who biked from Portland to Seattle in two days - overweight and soon after diagnosed with PCOS. Yes, the food you put in your face is a huge, huge deal, but anecdotally it seems that the whacked out are contributing to the obesity epidemic.

Grrrr - "whacked out hormones"

It sounds better than "I'm on the pill because I'm a slut", doesn't it. I'm curious, how many women do you know have come right out and told you that?

She has 'amassed' 851 signatures on her petition so far. Imagine how much weight she can lose if she gets to 100,000 or so.

2011: "Doctors will be paid extra simply for telling their patients to go on a diet, under radical NHS plans." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/8527835/GPs-will-be-paid-extra-to-tell-patients-they-are-fat.html

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/10382775/Dont-blame-obese-patients-for-being-fat-doctors-told.html

Who's to bet that all those fatties that cried about doctors being mean, will complain "my doctor didn't tell me how bad it was!" when they begin to be struck down by all the fat related conditions.

It's really weird that people want to promote and "accept" something that's inherently bad. Because seriously, what's good about being fat?

I read "group of girls who are otherwise horrendously bullied by the media," as "group of girls who are otherwise horrendous."

Don't they already have that ogre princess to look up to from Shrek? I guess that's not Disney, but, if Disney gives into this kind of thing in the future I'd like to see them blackknight it and make the charming male lead an omega or hopeless sniveling gamma.

So, humans can smell the fat content in food, I wonder if that transposes to other humans as well? Could this also act as a new neg pickup line? "Hey baby, I smelled your fat content across the room and got hungry." Shoggoths just might swoon.

Every woman I know except one who has told me she is on the pill has claimed the hormonal irregularities. That one said it was convenient not to worry about a broken condom.

However, more than a few have been overheard saying it's because it's more romantic or directly admitting they can't remember to ask about condoms when they are drunk. It's amazing what they think people won't overhear...

I wonder if it is 'body acceptance' that turns mere Fatties into dreaded Warpigs?

Give that girl a Twinkie.

From the piece: 'If girls are THAT impressionable I wouldn't want them looking up to overweight princesses'

No damned joke...

The quandry for Disney then becomes: "Do we have this strong, independent manatee chew out a mean guy for calling her Shamu?"

You don't say....

Looking at the state of women these days, you have to wonder if the Pill isn't literally driving them mad.

Bob said...

Wouldn't blame it solely on the pill

Moreso their minds being completely free to run away with them, with nothing to stop em

I've heard it occasionally from women of unknown chastity, but as I mentioned in my original comment two of these women are conservative Christian wives with good reputations. Another one is a very conservative friend I've known for twenty years. They aren't sluts. Anecdotally though it seems like even good women are using the Pill without thinking too much about the side affects - weight and hormone imbalance seeming to be rather closely related for women.

That's not a neg you tool. That's a straight up insult.

Hahaha, win. Same thing with losers who accuse the pope for badmouthing condoms. "It's your fault that darkies have AIDS. What, you also tell them not to fuck around and they still do? You think this proves that you have much less influence over them than I think? Fuck you, pedo pope."

Most women on the pill that I know tell me that because they don't want to get pregnant.

Why shouldn't the fat people get their nod, the gays finally got theirs in the last movie (of course now they are pushing for a lesbian princesses and no doubt a tranny one after that)

The paleo diet is the real deal

Unfortunately a lot of meat is stripped of its nutritional value, and the stuff that isn't is twice as much.

I'd say the father should be embarrassed by this and tell his chunky spawn to learn to exercise, but I have this odd feeling he's out of the picture.

I don't know if it's Disney(?), but there already is one, Princess Fiona. Even chose to be a chunker. Some people just aren't happy about not being happy. Tough titty. Oh, Disney will do it. Probably give her short hair and make her lesbian while they are at it.

You can't out-exercise a poor diet. They can exercise as much as they want, but if they hit Starbucks every day it's plus size clothing all around.

From what I can tell, companies try to hire people that cover multiple categories because that frees up spots for people who actually do the work. Disney can do the same thing - make all the princesses attractive except for one that's a fat, retarded, "differently abled" black transgendered lesbian. That should keep them ahead of the PC curve for a few years.

This is true with most supermarket meats. I always buy and recommend grass feed/free range products. Even better is have your own farmer that you know raises good meat and eggs. It is expensive but worth it. I contend that I will live longer and I already feel much better than I did 4 years ago

Feewings, Part 30122.

So do they want curvy or fat? When challenged on what "plus sized" means they'll trot out the usual bit about tall women and probably the "big bones" drivel as well. But they mean obese. No waist. No curves. Rolls. But I shouldn't be surprised: if they can't look at themselves honestly, how can they possibly be honest about how reality hurts their feewings?

Not that it matters. One honest go at this from Disney (should they be so foolish) will demonstrate forever why it's a bad idea. No boys will bother; a subset of girls will rah-rah their best into bumping up the numbers... to start with. No staying power. Barely any return on merchandising. And the way people describe it from pretty much the beginning will be unsquelchably common. So hey, bring it on.

Feather Blade said...

Disney, being a company, will follow the money. They might do the PC thing once, but if it tanks at the box office, they will never do it again, and you can be darn sure that the PC princess will never be seen in any of the merchandise.

I saw Lena Dunham dubbed the "New Queen of Comedy" on some magazine while going through a pharmacy checkout line. Can't recall the name of the magazine, but may have been Cosmo. that should satisfy the "positive role model" need in spades. Few more self deluded than her.

CarpeOro said...

Oh, and issue isn't "curvy" women. The issue is they have too few curves, and no, rolls don't count.

They photoshopped the 2nd picture of her (the B&W photo). Big time.

It wouldn't go very far. The merchandise wouldn't sell. The whole point of the princess thing is the fantasy of perfection, beauty, feminine attraction. Little girls, especially fat little girls, don't fantasize about growing up and being just as fat as they always were....but in a sparklier mumu.

buzzardist said...

Disney already did this. Go watch The Little Mermaid again. Ursula is the poster child for fat princesses.

And as much as this high school nitwit might dislike it, Ursula's position in the world is entirely realistic of what her own position likely will be should she remain fat. She'll be alone, poor, bitter, with a couple dependents, and probably trying to tear down everything and everyone around her in order to make her own pathetic existence seem happy.

On that latter point, this fat girl is already well on her way.

I mean, should we really give any heed whatsoever to a girl who is already admitting that she could not possibly be satisfied with herself unless Disney creates a glamorized image of her? The world is supposed to cater to this tyrannical narcissism?
