Sexual equality in sport

Now SJWs at The Economist are worrying about sexual equality in equine events... but they're not only worried about equality among the riders, they're worried about the HORSES:
DROP in on a pony club camp somewhere in Britain this summer and, chances are, at least 90% of the children trotting around in jodhpurs will be girls. And so it continues in competitive riding up the rungs—until the very top. But in the Olympic eventing last week, where riders and horses locked hooves in the three disciplines of dressage, cross-country and show-jumping, nine out of the top ten places were taken by men.

This could be an anomaly; many of the most successful event riders over the last few decades have been women. It could also be a trend—led by the individual gold-medal winner in Rio, Michael Jung of Germany, who won in London four years ago and this year became only the second rider to complete the “Triple Crown” by winning consecutive Badminton, Burghley and Kentucky events. Whichever, it poses the question: does equestrianism really occur on the level field we want and believe it to? And if not, why not?
At this point, one almost finds oneself welcoming the possibility of Ragnarok.

Ahh, but how many of them will be FAT?

Only one in 20 riders are within the optimum weight for their horse

And we all know when feminism meets animal abuse it is the poor animals who suffer.

Ignoring the topic of equestrian, I have been shaking my head at the Olympics this year. Based on my newsfeeds, it seems there are no men competing. All the medals seem to be going to women.

Just gazed at some of the magazine cover while standing in line at the grocery. All the ones covering the Olympics show a female black gymnist. That's it. I guess no one else from America showed up.

Isn't "pony camp" where posh English parents dump their daughters during the summer school break so they don't have to deal with them? It's babysitting with horse dung, not an Olympic training program.

I must be missing something. This article only discusses equality among riders. Typical SJW boilerplate, but nothing new or especially outrageous.

Equality is the opposite of quality

Equality is Envy: A man abler than his brothers insults them by implication. He must not aspire to any virtue which cannot be shared'

More importantly an Olympics E-Sport event will level the playing field between men and women Right?

Right??

RIGHT?!?!?!?

I breed and raise dressage horses. The best riders tend to be German, Dutch, English riders from social groups that take competitive riding and training very seriously, and people doing this for national teams are often male. There are plenty of women in the US riding, but fewer with the dedication and commitment of the upper level riders you see especially in Europe. They have done this sport for centuries longer than in the US, and upper level riding requires years of training. These are not a bunch of barrel riders.

It could be an anomaly? Here's an idea. Why don't you google it to find out, mister journalist? Then you can tell the zero people who give a fuck all about it.

Whaddya mean "at this point"? I'm only on the side of Western civilization out of a misplaced sense of loyalty.

Basically, I cuck for the West.

More importantly, why the fuck is horse back riding still an Olympic event?

For the same reason there's an 'h' in "jodhpurs".

Tell me you wouldn't watch Olympic barrel riding.

He's a dumbass. Women who like big animals are automatically marriage material.

Given conditions on the ground in Rio, it's hard to believe that any self-respecting athlete from ANY First World country showed up.

Had a pretty hot college roommate who was into dressage and helped pay her way through college in training horses in it for their owners.
It is an Olympic sport for several reasons. It takes a LOT of conditioning and athleticism to ride a horse at that level.

As evidenced by the very fact that the majority of Olympic caliber competitors are MEN. You'd think the lighter weight of women would make up the difference in muscle power and fine motor control of the men, wouldn't that seem logical? After all, the horse is doing most of the work, right? Wrongo.

Another reason is that dressage and jumping are barely a step removed from the original purpose they held, the cavalry.
Shooting, fencing, boxing, wrestling and dressage are still pretty close to the original Olympic skills. And perhaps the javelin toss.

Is there any field where women dominate at the highest levels? Even in fields the majority of men would shy away from, like fashion, men are at least equally represented if not dominant.

Jigsaw puzzles apparently. But yes, that's the only example I'm aware of if we exclude events like dance, gymnastics and the like which is obviously based on aesthetic judgement.

Huh. Must be mostly German women: http://www.worldjigsawpuzzle.org/hannut2015.php?lang=en

Westerners have less land than they think they do. The Mercator projection could be misrepresenting and affecting the perceptions of Westerners of just how much room they have to share with foreign third world immigrants.

Africa already has more land than the USA, Europe and Australia combined, yet we need to share what little land we have in our nations with them?

Hell I've found myself enjoying women's track events just because living in the US it's about the only way I'll be able to see that many fit women at the same time.

You're totally right, bro, we should get rid of it and add 47 more swimming events.
