Avoiding Gammahood

Ben Cohen: What's the best way to avoid being a gamma?
VD: Be ruthlessly honest with yourself. Don't exaggerate or lie to others.

It’s not just the best way, it’s the only way. This post could be a book, but instead I’ll highlight the four points of life.

Physical: Don't lie to yourself about your appearance. Take a good long look in the mirror. Everyone, and I mean everyone has something they’d like to improve about their appearance so get at it. Dress better and sharper than the next guy. Work out and push yourself.

Emotional: Don't lie about how you feel, but rather learn to control yourself. Stop being a basket case when things don’t go your way. If your emotions are getting the best of you stop, walk away, and calm down so long as your life isn’t in danger. Stop picking fights with people online and in real life to get an emotional high and low. You can't really control your emotions, but you can control your reaction to them to try to remain calm and steady.

Spiritual: Don't lie about the state of your soul or conscience. If you don’t pray, then meditate regularly on life, listen to your conscience, and strive for honesty. If you pray, then set time aside regularly for it and to ask for forgiveness and honesty. You can’t forgive others if you can’t get on your knees yourself. You can’t expect honesty in others if you lie about yourself.

Intellectual:  Don't lie to yourself about your intelligence and keep your mouth shut unless you actually have something meaningful to add. Carefully read on a topic before pontificating about it as you want to be known for being thoughtful not blustery. Don’t exaggerate about things you know or your life, as eventually you will get caught.

Outside of these four categories the single best advice I can give a Gamma about women is to remember that for every low character man there is in the world, there’s a low character woman. What confuses many men is that women do different evil than men not less of it, and so men ignore or don’t take it seriously. Don't lie to yourself that women are intrinsically better or morally upright than men. Their hearts can be just as black and twisted, but it's not always so obvious.

Most people are throw-backs, both men & women. If you're honestly working on being a better person & striving to identify & associate with good people, isn't that a big chunk of it?

The problem is that being honest with ourselves is difficult.

Especially stop lying about your war record, or lack thereof. You will be caught very easily.

The older I get, the more I recognize when women were trying to manipulate me. It's as natural & unconscious for most (80%?) of them as breathing.

I was sculpting a life size female in sand at Clearwater Beach while vacationing with my wife & sons, when a 25ish very attractive woman in a skimpy thong bikini walked to even with me and then turned to wade out into the water. She made sure to note 1) that I noticed and 2) that my wife noticed #1.

Poster child for female viciousness.

great advice for any man, period.

I agree with with pdwalker, it's great advice for any man.

Thank you Vox for doing a post on this and fleshing out these topics. Do gammas tend to be irreligious or atheists, because the points you emphasized, except for the physical fitness, are emphasized by patriarchal religion.

You’re totally right. I liked that you also mentioned the fact that women are morally not better than men. There are too many men out there living with this illusion.

This.

Should be tattooed on every woman's forehead.

Ben Cohen: Being extremely religious is also Gamma. Unless you are already Alpha/Sigma. Then you become a Saint.

Perhaps ostentatiously religious is a better descriptor. Lots of Christian men and women out there who regard their faith as a private matter. Gamma might be comparable to a pharisee type?

Do not meditate. It'll bring you to the wrong places, no matter good intentions. There is no excuse for not knowing 'how to pray'. Say the Lord's Prayer as you were instructed instead of Making Up Religion for yourself like the silly pagan East. Get rid of the Enlightened Hippie stuff.

Don't accept spiritual advice from people who are not authorized to give it.

Good, good.

Self-loathing pity and self-absorption mentalities must go as well... Amen.

Right. Females are much more indirect in doing evil, and v clever at utilizing various male proxies -- individuals, organizations, governments. No male is completely immune to these tactics and so we must periodically remind one another of this collective weakness and point of masculine vulnerability, so as to minimize personal and cultural damage.

ray - meditation isn't hippie mumbo jumbo, and is actually both recommended and commanded by scripture.

It seems to me (please do correct my misunderstandings on this topic, I'm just now learning about it) that one of the differences between this type of personality and that of a higher status male is that the higher status male (alpha or beta) is under no illusions about the nature of women. They don't overlook the flaws of women by attributing them to men.

I've known guys who can't help attributing the bad behavior of women to men. "She probably had an abusive/absent father/boyfriend." They like to absolve women of wrongdoing by speculating about some external force that may have caused their behavior, as if women are naturally good. But when they have a negative experience with another man, "He's just an asshole."

Gammas believe in the natural goodness of women.

Ruthlessly punish lying.

Maybe not ruthless, they are your kids, but certainly don't pull your punches. They need to experience reality, not have you shield them from it.

This paragraph needs to be hung in every church in the USA.

@ Scott C. - your are kinda correct. The thing is, Alphas and Betas just act in accordance with female nature...whether they have illusions or not. Most of the natural Alphas I've met in life believe in the falsehoods about women's nature, especially if they have daughters, but when it comes time to picking up women or just gaming the wife, they act against their very own platitudes and rationalize it as playing around.

Most people at the top don't tend to be stuck in their heads. It must be refreshing.

I'd appreciate more good thoughts on Christian meditation and prayer. I tend to believe "The Heart is wicked" and thinking too much just lets you come up with better rationalizations for what you know you shouldn't do.

But I am open to suggestions.

Don't Lie To Yourself. Great point. A lot of guys do it without recognizing it sometimes, because it's just become a reflex. I had to work hard to call bullshit on myself, both talking to others and myself. When I caught myself saying "oh this work schedule is a pain, it keeps me from doing (x, y, or z)." "I wish I had time for working out/ a hobby" "why can't I do (goal) with my life". All bullshit. It wasn't my schedule that held me back, from a workout routine, it was me. I would stay up and sleep in too late, leaving no time for it before work. Why couldn't I do something more enjoyable to break out of a my routine? well because on the weekends I was lazy and put off doing the things I need, or just sat around doing nothing productive instead of making plans ahead to do things on my days off.

If you can recognize your key phrases for shifting the blame from others, or 'circumstances' to yourself, and shut that down, only honesty is left.

Nope, sorry. Either you don't know what you're talking about or you're lying.

Meditation is dangerous. It changes your state of consciousness and opens you up to spiritual influence of the bad kind, just like drugs. You want demonic influence or outright possession then go ahead and meditate.

Scripture specifically says not to use repetition in your prayers. The repetitive chants many schools of meditation use are not mere nonsense syllables, they are the names of their gods. If you practice within those schools then you are placing yourself under those small g gods.

All of the examples of prayer in scripture are focused on God, they are not exercises in emptying the mind.

Yes, prayer can change your state of consciousness in many ways like meditation but with one fundamental difference, God. Without Him you just make yourself a bigger target.

S1AL said...

Athor Pel - No, you simply don't know what meditation is.
