Of fish and bicycles

Many women love to lecture men about how strong and independent they are. Entire books have been written about how the male sex is unnecessary thanks to the technology men created and maintain. And yet, women vociferously complain when they are treated as equals in times of danger, and it appears some of them can't even be relied upon to try to save their own children:
The mother of a two-year-old girl who fell between a train and a platform at Sydney's domestic airport on Sunday evening screamed hysterically for someone to save her daughter who was crying on the tracks, a witness claims. The toddler was bleeding from the back of her head when her father and a bystander, Phil, pulled her back onto the platform after she fell just before 5.30pm on Sunday.

The child was believed to be attempting to board the train with her family, including her mother, father and two young siblings, when she slipped through the gap between platform one and the stationary train. Phil, who did not want his surname used, said he was sitting on the train when a woman began screaming so loudly he initially thought someone had been assaulted.

"I got out of my seat, went outside and then noted that the lady was hysterically screaming because her child had gone down the side there," he said.

"The train conductor was trying to tell the child to stay there. He went down in between his carriages, but by the time he got down there we were actually able to pull the child up. The child had reached up, and then we had to squeeze her head past the carriage and the platform."
So, the father acted, a male bystander acted, and the mother stood there screaming hysterically. Yes, they're going to be just brilliant in combat, aren't they.

Even the Amazon myths (make them crossbows, and maybe..., but upper body strength weapons?). The Amazons are all barbarianettes, they don't build cities with fine art, libraries, culture.

Another example is the flat tire. Men change it and take care of it later. Women use a cell phone to summon a man. (Many years ago at a feminism show the "how to change your oil" apparently was the subject of amazement).

If the kid was being told by the conductor to stay put and the train was neither moving nor about to move then she wasn't in imminent danger or in urgent need of rescue.

If I was to post something as specious as "some men can't even be relied upon to not rape their four year old children"... I'd at least make sure that the statement applied to whatever phycho it was that inspired the story.

Lazy.

You're completely missing the point. The mother obviously believed the child was in sufficient danger to be "screaming so loudly he initially thought someone had been assaulted". Whether the child was in danger or not, the mother believed she was. And instead of acting, she screamed for men to do something about it.

Right. Non emergency situation and she is screaming. Now she looks even dumber for freaking out when there is no need to.

It should be legal to slap any woman who is screaming, no matter what the reason she is screaming.

The most useful thing she could have done was control and comfort the OTHER children while daddy rescued the one that was in jeopardy, but the useless twit apparently couldn't even do that.

@Bob,

It isn't legal?

Another story highlighting why women shouldn't vote.

"But obviously the only way those men would have known how to act is for the woman to have directed them by screaming. Perfect example of how women will succeed and dominate management fields once the patriarchy is ended."

It must be tough to go through life so completely dominated by your emotions. The only time I ever screamed hysterically was when a swarm of hornets came out of a rotted trunk I had sat on and chased me down. Granted, I was a little child then, barely 4 or 5, if I recall correctly, but I can't think of any situation in which I've become hysterical. Sometimes I wonder if women have little shame or social conscience because of their solipsism and desire for attention. No doubt this woman whose child fell is going to recount her story hundreds of times to any stranger who will listen about how scared and emotionally vulnerable she was, rather than how foolishly she acted, probably traumatizing her child by her reaction.

I think we all know how brilliant women will be in combat. Anyone remember the whole J Lynch debacle, and the big fat lies that accompanied it initially?

Look, women did not, not even the "feminists" among them, orchestrate the fall of modern civilization. Women have just been willing and knowing, or not, tools in a grander political and economic game. They have no more clue, or input, than they ever have. Then again, most men are not freemen, well informed, or a party to what is happening in the world themselves. Cattle. Sheep. Many, perhaps most, would surrender their rights for 20 silver coin. Betraying themselves, and everyone else, as Christ was already betrayed and remains so.

The folk I live among are not politically powerful, or well informed, necessarily. But they do understand simple things, including hard work, God as they understand, and family. They do appreciate the right to defend themselves personally and communally, and do so. I'll take that because that is about as good as it gets. Laughing at feminists and the lot it has cast women to is laudable, it just misses the point. Which is why the distraction was created. Why not blame butterflies for hurricanes, or fireflies for the light pollution.

Besides, I have found that even the most vehement feminist, under my tutelage, thumb, finds her way to the feminine roll quite nicely. The hen might try to peck, flap her wings, and cluck at me, but when I need an egg I just fucking get it. Or a thigh. Bah!

She was panicking and in distress but, again, how do you know she wasn't just following the conductor's instructions?

And instead of acting, she screamed for men to do something about it.
With a train at standstill, the only real danger was that the drive might move off. Perhaps making a commotion was her best strategy.

Because I'm not an idiot.

No. Her screaming led people to believe someone was being assaulted. You're just reaching for straws here. Are you seriously suggesting that the father did the wrong thing by going to get the girl out? Was that really a suboptimal strategy?

What would those instructions be, "don't just do something stand there?" Or, "by all means leave your bleeding toddler, screaming for assistance while you collect yourself?"

A year ago, I came home early from work to find my condo complex on fire. The flames had engulfed the back porch of the corner unit. Two women, probably teenagers or in their early 20s, were running around screaming. A third woman, somewhat older (maybe 30-ish) had a garden hose with a mister attachment on it, and was waving it in the general direction of the fire, from about 20 feet away. I immediately ran forward, grabbed the hose from the bewildered woman, tore the mister attachment off and battled the flames with the hose. While doing so, I yelled at the other women to call 911.

After about 5 minutes battling the fire, I managed to get it somewhat under control. The fire department showed up, handled the rest, and then pulled me aside. Looking at the damage, they concluded that I had saved the building from burning down, including the beloved pets the women had abandoned in their flight from the fire.

How did they managed to set fire to the place? One of them knocked over a BBQ full of hot coals -- they were BBQing in an enclosed, screened porch.

This isn't to brag -- at that point in my life I was a white knighting shrub without a lick of game. I meekly handed the hose back and belittled my own accomplishment. But, looking back on it, it was the really when my image of women as the equal of men started to crack.

Maybe the same thing will happen for the husband and the bystander in this case. You never know.

As a family, we watch a variety of scary movies. I have trained our young daughters to laugh at how silly it is to scream when zombies attack. It helps no one. Deciding to panic is never the right decision.

And your source for this call of hokum is...what? A few persons after the fact "investigating" and conveniently discovering that mankind is good and noble after all?

You will forgive me if I continue to err on the side of eksoudenanthropy, Mr. Maier. I have yet to be pleasantly surprised by your miserable race.

This reminds me of the video going around Labor Day Weekend. A guy noodling fish has one grab his arm. The two women next to him are useless; actually a tripping hazard, so he would've been better off if they weren't there. And all the woman recording it could do is scream. The noodler pretty much took care of the situation himself.

Before you feel bad for his getting his arm caught like that, remember: the woman filming is likely his wife, and so he has to listen to that hollering all the time. I'd rather be swallowed by the fish like Jonah.

Yesterday, (10/3/13), a woman died in Washington, D.C. when she drove her car through a barracade, and then up toward the Capitol building. Most of the Fourth Estate are saying that she was insane, and had a wish to die.

I propose a simpler explanation, based on the observations in Vox's posting here:

A woman driver (with her child in the back seat) turned the wrong way, broke through a barracade, and was confronted with Secret Security and/or Capitol Police, with their guns drawn and visions of 'terrorist attack' and 'zero tolerance' dancing through their heads. She panicked hysterically, tried to escape, and was hunted down like a rabbit chased by wolves.

I believe that what we had here was a perfect storm of stupid woman tricks and stormtrooper police.
