Girl sings about Game

As you know, I think pop music provides a useful insight into the mindset of the masses. Not because its authors are so magnificently empathetic or emotive, but because what appeals to the masses versus what does not is instructive concerning what is going on inside all those little irrational minds.

Call Me Maybe is a catchy, well-crafted little pop song that perfectly illustrates some of the core concepts of Game, so perfectly that it wouldn't surprise me if it was written by a man cognizant of the theory.

(Checks Wikipedia) Yep, the authors are listed as Carly Rae Jepsen, (the singer), Josh Ramsay, and Tavish Crowe. Given my experience in the music industry, I'd guess Jepsen probably provided the base concept and a line or two, but the men wrote most of the lyrics and all of the music. Anyhow, here's the chorus:

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me, maybe?
It's hard to look right, at you baby, but here's my number, so call me, maybe?
Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me, maybe?
And all the other boys, try to chase me, but here's my number, so call me, maybe?

What do we observe here?

1. No time limit. No concerns about it being too soon.

2. The number is provided without request.

3. She can't meet his eyes. In other words, he exhibits dominance.

4. The interest - and loyalty - of other males is of no interest to her and instills no attraction for them in her.

5. She acknowledges that she is departing from female social norms, "this is crazy", but she does it anyhow.

This is what actual female attraction looks like. This is what Alphas see on a regular basis, if not necessarily every day. This is what it looks like if a girl is genuinely into you. If she is not behaving in this manner, it doesn't mean you can't seduce her or somehow attract her, but she is not actively attracted to you.

Note that the girl isn't being a slut or anything, she's just sending an unmistakable indicator of interest that cannot be misinterpreted. That's what very attracted women do. Here is the lesson: the level of a woman's attraction to a man is measured by the directness of her indicator of interest.

I note that the video is a subversion of the song from start to finish, not merely in the obvious way, but in the way that the singer is providing indirect indicators of interest, in which the humor is provided by the clumsy obviousness of them.

It would be hard to top the line from Cardigans - Lovefool:

I don't care if you really care
as long as you don't go

And the flip side of this from Motley Crue:

Girl, don't go away mad
Just go away

No girl ever sang about anything else.

Mostly true, but metal screamers appear to be an exception. I can think of two female screamers who sing about everything except their jackass ex-boyfriends: Angela Glasgow (Arch Enemy) and Laura Nichol (Light This City).

Despite their masculine vocal contortions*, they are both lovely. (Pics of Glasgow and Nichol.)

This is obviously the exception that proves the rule, and these girls very likely have high testosterone counts.

Here's a YouTube video of The Eagle by Light This City, which is just an ode to the magnificence of eagles. The lyrics are really beautiful.

Here's the first verse of The Eagle:

He clasps the crag with crooked hands
Deformed from gripping the rock so tight
Close to the sun in lonely lands
But the wax never melts from his wings
Ringed with the azure world he stands
Emperor of the sky, lord of the ocean
The very image of a king

I thought the same when I listened to the song. And yes that's the kind of behavior I see everyday, and those are the kind of girls I "approach". Which means there's no work to it.

As an Alpha young man, nothing turned me off more than the girltoss - where the girl picks herself up, and throws herself at your feet as hard as humanly possible. For instance - this girl in my circle of friends for a year or so went on a date with me and told me, "I'm yours if you want me. Whenever. We could have a really beautiful relationship." She was genuinely into me and confessed she had been for some time. But in 15 seconds, I went from thinking "she's quite hot, possible girlfriend" to "Run for your life! Clingy! Needy!" I guess this approach draws short term sexual attention from an Alpha but if a man is worth a damn there's no way this can be the basis of long term attraction; you can't respect somebody who doesn't have self-respect and a heart is worth more if it's earned, not flung at you.

That level of submission sometimes does bad things to a man too. People talk about "dark triad" traits, but maybe it's more like a genetic thing, where environmental factors cause the expression or supression of those traits. In retrospect, a fair number of women made themselves very vulnerable to me, and it brought all my worst traits. Talk about reverse shit tests - I'd constantly mock this one sugar sweet vegetarian girl about not eating meat; I regularly stood up this other girl who was a real beauty, but she was very gentle and mothering toward me. The nicer they were, the worse I acted. I still feel ashamed of that; didn't understand this mechanism until starting to read game blogs. Man, has the promiscuity of the sexual revolution ever fouled up our SMP...

When I hear women bitch about being treated badly by men, maybe part of it is they are throwing themselves at the feet of Alphas, and encouraging bad behavior. Granted, they can sometimes manage to hook up with the Alphas, but it's never going to be a long term thing for the Alpha. It's much more attractive if the woman needs to be chased a little bit, if she doesn't surrender the whole fortress all at once, up front.

Constant shit tests are a no-go, but some ongoing challenge is quite good for the relationship. It's hard for a strong man to maintain respect for a completely submissive woman - I have a deep and abiding love for my wife in part because she is formidable and ornery, particularly if I am screwing up. The XO of this unit needs to offer sound advice and sometimes tell the CO that he's full of shit. A spineless XO is worthless.

That's gross. Yeah some girls go, in seconds, from flirty to assuming / acting as in a relationship / acting soulmatey. It's taking charge. It doesnt give you any room to manouver. It's gross.

Reminds me of the Orianthi song "According To You", she's singing about how much her new BF adores her... but she's still singing the song to the guy that did nothing but disrespect her.

Telling, that.

"She can't meet his eyes. In other words, he exhibits dominance"

This happens to me a lot.But most gamers insist that girls gaze into the eyes of an alpha. So which is it?

How is that possible?

Yohami said...

Because it depends on the girl. The more carnivore (horny) the more she'll gaze into your eyes. If she's shy or started developing feelings she wouldnt be able to stand your eyes - because she feels all vulnerable and exposed.

In short, gaze = "fuck me now you stud", and cant meet eyes = "what Im feeling is so intense I cant control myself!"

Thanks, that makes more sense. I can bore you with some details and examples about my experience with this subject. It's up to you. Perhaps we can chat about this over at your blog. Thanks again.

I wrote a similar post breaking down "Call Me Maybe" a while back.

Except I had the Dolphin's Cheerleaders lip-syncing it as the video.
