Game and politics
It is a well-known fact that the taller candidate with better hair usually wins the presidential election. Based on this metric, Mitt Romney looks like a sure thing. But is it possible that those aspects of an alpha male are merely stand-ins for the candidates' socio-sexual status? If so, this personal anecdote may explain the tepid response among Republicans to Mitt Romney in 2008 as well as this election cycle:

Funny. My kid brother has his wife on a pedestal, though he's not a pushover as much as I'd thought at first.
I've been trying to think of some way to push him out of that mentality. I hope I have some success.
Now my sis-in-law seems like a great match for him and she seems to genuinely appreciate his efforts as a husband and father. I just don't see it as constructive in the long term.

Money, the support of the Republican establishment, and the fact that he's been running for about 7 years now. But based on all that, he should be at around 75 percent party support, not 25 percent.

Herman Cain definitely. Newt Gingrich has some definite alpha qualities despite being a fat little troll, which may help explain his otherwise inexplicable support, meager though it is.
I do think there is a tendency among Mormons to strive to be betas. Huntsman is the same way. A majority of devout Mormon men see beta hood as their ultimate goal. Alphas have too much pride, and pride is a sin.

I can't say I've ever paid Romney enough attention to be able to pick him out of a photo line-up. I'd probably confuse him with Huntsman, another one I pay no attention to. I don't watch the entertainment media news, and I either DVR or download all my shows, so I'm immune to political commercials.
I believe the first time I heard Romney's name I also heard about his Taxachusetts socialized health care. I assumed he was a demonican. When I found out he was a republicrat, I still didn't bat an eyelid. I've never considered him somebody I'd vote for, no matter which faction of the bank party he labels himself.
